I was happy, it didn't have any megatons, but does it need to?

In my opinion it did. MS has been extremely silent in the months leading up the E3 and they were even saying it was going to be bigger than last year's E3 but it failed to impress me and I'm a fairly die hard 360 fan. Sure they had the expected greatness of core games that were known of well in advance (which got it the score it did from me) and they showed off the Kinect tech working great (which was also expected), but nothing to really wow us. I'd say 3 is an average score (much like many consider a 7.5 for games). Anything higher needed more.

Their press briefing was neither good nor bad. It was a solid presentation of pretty much everything that most expected. I hope they still have a few surprises left sprinkled around the show.

Did everyone just completely ignore the Crytek exclusive? How is that not a megaton?

with just about nothing shown about a new IP, this barely registered with anyone. It's from the makers of crysis, but that's the extent of the hype.

Yeah, but Agent last year was a megaton, or so I'm told. *eyeroll*

2.4/5

Yes, some of the Kinect stuff looked somewhat amusing, but my biggest gripe was the looooong rants that the Microsoft executives gave between each game. But even most of the hardcore stuff didn't get me psyched. Gears 3 looked Ok, but it's not my type of game, Rising looked nice, Halo Reach looked... Interesting. For some odd reason, none of the preceding Halo games have looked as compelling as this one... and Fable III, looked Ok, I guess.

Definitely below my expectations...

I didn't forget about it... But a CG trailer? From a Crytek game? That's incredibly underwhelming... I love Crytek games (just look at my profile. I still play Crysis 1 about 5 hours a week) but announcing one without anything real to show is about as good as just name dropping it and putting up a logo.

For me the best parts of the show were Reach space combat and MGS Rising. Those two things left me with a big grin on my face.

I agree, 3 sounds about right. Kinect stuff was nice enough, but no major game reveals.

Lol, who tells you that?

I gave it a 2.  No surprise, no excitement, Kinect was passable but their base is probably foaming at the mouth... this is Nintendo's 2008 all over again.

You know how everyone were moaning about Agent not being exciting last year because nothing was shown? This is the same thing, except we have a short live action trailer to say a bit about the game instead of a company official saying something. And Rockstar are more important than Crytek.

I give it a 3 but it was on the verge of a 4.  Microsoft clearly know how this kind of interface should work. Sony failed to recognise the potential of the eye as an interface. so 1 for ms there.  providing new service, sequels to hardcore  games, and games for the intended audience of there new peripheral. another 1.  don't know what crytek game they showed briefly was about but it looked good.

poor acting on behalf of the scripted video call. -1. oh well while I am on that the video call, I thought it was cool the way it let you watch a movie with your friend, the most you do on a ps eye video call is show a picture (I think). the whole conferences was very text book to me anyway.  Microsoft normally make it seem like they are throwing a party or at least that the impression I got from the video footage last year but not this time. so -1 there.

so I would say 3 maybe 4.

correct me if I am wrong
stop me if I am bias
I love a good civilised debate (but only if we can learn something).

My vote goes somewhere between 2 and 3...

Kinect wasnt that impressive, even if it looks more promising than Sony's move, I still think this is too little, too late.

Other than that, there wasnt any kind of megaton announcements.

I would say the difference is that it was being made by rockstar, who actually talked about the game previously, maybe that's the reasoning behind people who said it was a megaton.

I didn't consider it a megaton really. It was known previously to e3. That's not a megaton.
