If true, it seems that Microsoft is jealous of Sony's PSP Go price model and decided to join the overprice party.

see that right there is what i was exactly talking about..

I just showed a web cam that by the way is not 3D and is not as good as the camera that Microsoft is putting out

  •  2.0 M Effective Pixels
  •  Up to 1600 x 1200 30 fps...
  •  USB 2.0

and it's priced at $89.00

but it seem's many gamer's want the price to be less , when it's more expensive component's?

:P

but the web cam is a high end device sold with a large manufacturers markup designed to make a profit off of a relatively small number of sales. Natal is something people expected Microsoft to sell at a loss to get it into peoples homes. Sure the price is legitimate for the device and very possible but if MS want to sell a lot of them and market it is the next generation of gaming to coincide with the slim as a relaunch of the 360 people expected it to be cheaper. A lot of people will be turned off by this rumoured price.

the fact that a lot of analysts like Pachter were saying $50-150 and may cost around $75-100 to manufacture means that this price seems high to a lot of people.

while I agree with what your stating, i am just stating that the cost is reasonable and is not over priced..people may expect that but I do not think it's fair to the companies. people may feel screw the companies :P, but without them there would be none of this, I do not want companies to price thing's too high also but when it's resonable in it's price I feel no problem paying for it at that price. as long as it's reasonable.

People may not agree with me, but that's just my take on it. Gamer's are too spoiled..lol

yea lol people are greedy and selfish lol. mmm so many "lol"s lol

I mean it sounds perfectly reasonable when you compare it to the 360 HDD and other peripherals but I think a lot of people are shocked that it isn't being sold at a loss or at most cost so as to get it into as many homes as possible. This price if true could be seen as Microsoft backing down from staking the whole future of the 360 on Natal as it seemed they were doing. Unless they have some amazing games coming I don't see Natal doing very well at this rumoured price point and that will mean developers will be reluctant to develop for it.

I mean the black Wii with sports resort (2 games) is only US$199.99 and Natal is $189 console for new owners with I would hope at least 1 full game (even if it's a wii sports like minigame collection) it doesn't look like a good deal even if the tech is better and some people will think it is a great deal, I don't think you average Wii owner (I think we can all agree the main market) is gonna see this as a good deal. And I don't think the shooter-core are going to go for it, especially not at that price.

So then there is the question who is the market for this? who would be willing to pay several hundred $$$ (if they are new owners) to play one or two games (one of which is probably a cart racer a 3D breakout game and a digital canvas one or two other mini games) especially if they already own a Wii and some games and a couple of controllers or a PS3 owner who could pick up a PS eye and some move controllers for less than the price of just Natal?

sorry for the rant lol

P.S. I don't think being able to navigate the dashboard etc is a big enough selling point ether BTW.

like i said i get where you are coming from, I also with that Price if true than maybe Microsoft will take a lesser "here an now" way of getting out the door as fast as they can bundle it with new xbox360's to gather new XBOX360 buyer's. while the existing XBOX360 user's may wait but , Microsoft is in a good position to continue moving forward with xbox360 support for a few year's more with quite a good chance they do not have to bring out a new XBOX360 replacement.

the new xbox360 repacement may not get released before 2013 because of this.

thats a good thing for sony too so they wont be forced to release a PS4  anytime soon :)

if you think about it what would the new system's that Microsoft and Sony release what would the function's of the new replacement's have over the PS3 and the xbox360?

more powerful hardware, and better upperlimit graphic's limit's

other than that every function that the new machine's will have so would the PS3 and the xbox360, they would not be upto the speed of the replacement system's will have.  Durring the first year or two there is not going to be a real big graphical leap in the game's over the system's we have now because the PS3 and the xbox360 will still be selling, and developer's still want that money. esp. 3rd party.

they have enough robust hardware that developer's can still make good money in software sales to keep developer's putting game's on the older system to be released also.

due mainly to XBOX LIVE

due mainly to PSN

not being as static as older game console's will keep the ps3 and the xbox360 viable platform because of them both being less static.

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

I wouldn't pay anything over 60 bucks probably. If Move is decent I may get it. But they need a decent set of launch titles. Hopefully they will be better than this.

In all honesty Sony doesn't have to try too horribly hard to do better than this.

OT: So far i'm quite disappointed , and if kinnect does cost this much then I will just give up on MS ever making anything good ever again gaming wise.

If MS is banking on Kinect to be the future of the Xbox platform, then the assumption has to be that a significant percentage of future releases will be Kinect compatible if not required.

The only problem is (if these $189, $120 prices are correct; we'll find out pretty soon), MS just created a split market for a sub-platform that is no longer a casual purchase (like another controller), but a full blown add-on that is essentially a platform on top of a platform ie. Sega CD or Sega 32X.

At those prices, most Xbox owners will not be upgrading, so I really hope this was a misinterpretation/false information.

If not, those initial games had better be magical.

Why two versions?  Will some games only work on one?  This sounds odd to me.   With Kinect MS are looking at potentially having to split their user base into two - those with Kinect and those without.  With two versions that could split smaller, which isn't good.

Even with the Wii's success overall it felt to me like MotionPlus struggled as it broke from the origianl configuration and split the install base, with few games really seeming to use it vs the larger install base without it.

Now MS and Sony seem to be gearing up to have multiple motion controller configurations in defiance of the wisdom of keeping things consistent from the start.

I'm confused.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

WTF?!

$100 is already pushing it.

I predict a quick price drop if it really starts at $189.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

If it cost that much, then no I'm not  buying. I won't buy for more than $100.

Honestly, I have always expected it to cost $150 to $200 bundled with a game; and that is one of the main reasons I never thought it would be that successful. This doesn’t mean (necessarily) that it will sell poorly, after all Rock Band is (basically) $200 and sold very well for a game, but at a price like this it could never have the sales to make it competitive as an independent platform.

The only scenario in which two SKUs makes sense is bundles with different software. I only hope they will not release a high performance model with additional processing power to alleviate the lag.

It has 32X written all over it.

Indeed its starting to seem that way. Here's hoping we're all wrong tho.
