Forums - General - The death of the CD.

Is the music cd dying. With all the mp3 player's out there and other music player's will the music cd  cease to exsist. Who out there actually buys cd's anymore. I made the mistake of buying the chinese democracy cd from guns and roses. There use to be all kinds of music stores around, but now Best buy and Wal-Mart are a couple of stores that still have cd's. So,in closing is the cd format pretty much dead and when was the last time anybody actually bought a music cd?

Going to buy Eminem's new album in a couple of days. The last CD I bought for myself was 2007.

Single/promotional CDs are already dead. But last time I checked, people are buying more albums physically than digitally.

I just bought two yesterday. CDs are the future now B_E_L_I_E_V_E!

I always buy CDs...better quality than mp3s, I can listen to them on any player, thera are cover, booklets, they costs too much in stores but not on the internet, also If want to listen to them on the ipod, I can convert em' in waw or mp3 files using Nero.

No, I dont think so.  Its going to take awhile before CDs dissappear.   I have bought quite a few this year already and I plan to buy plenty more the rest of the year.  As someone already said,  they sound much better than mp3s and you can always rip them into mp3s.
