Forums - Gaming - So GameSpot is Biased...?

GameSpot, Eidos, and CNET - You have made your decision.  You have decided to try to shaft me, your customer.  That wasn't smart.  I pay your bills.  I'm not going to let you forget that now.  You're fired.

So "gamespot" is saying that nobody is commenting on this because they don't want to lose their jobs but that they're also refusing to write reviews? I don't buy that... I think the first part is true but the second isn't.

I gave up on GS a long time ago. They went 360 and never turned back.

I had signed up for their gamecube newsletter about 3 years ago. Once the 360 came out, I'd start getting ads for the 360 sent as part of my GC newsletter. I canceled my account after this happened several times.

Yet another reason to ignore all review scores. Because anyone who thinks the office politics don't get involved on most websites is naive. Granted this sounds pretty bad, so I don't know if this is the best example to use of reality for most review teams.

To Each Man, Responsibility

just a thing on IGN: i know the guy who's responsible for ad placement for the site (run by exactly 1 guy... maybe a couple more now, since last time i was chatting with him was when he came to my school to recruit last year), and as far as i can gather, there is not much communication between this guy and game reviewers.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Hah! You've got the right idea. Welcome to VGChartz.

That's Marketing Tip #1: Try not to let your customers hate you.

Let me add Management Tip #1: Try not to let your staff hate you.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

The comments about changes occurring at Gamespot after Greg Kasavin left are interesting. Personally, I was very sad to see him go; he was probably the most consistently well-written game critic I have ever read, and I had a tremendous amount of respect for his journalistic skills and integrity. He was a great asset to the site, and it now seems that things have gone downhill since his departure. I didn't realize the effects would be so significant.

Hates Nomura.

Crash and die!

^  Yes, let us hope so. I see them recovering though, as people tend to easily forget and/or be extremely fickle.
