Forums - Sales - Top 50 Seventh Gen Games (all platforms)

You're ready to blame the bundle, but I believe that it is only effective in one country. It may be that MKWii is simply that huge and has legs that robust.

The bundle is on amazon.co.uk, at least. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Console-Sports-Motion-Controller/dp/B004BSFAWU/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1291996652&sr=8-8

By the way, did you look at MKDS sales this week? They were terrifying. Unless this random boost randomly slows down, 20m's a shoe in next week!

Yeah, I noticed that too. But last week's MKDS numbers have been adjusted too, they were actually even larger than this week's, at 394k! I have no idea what caused the sudden boom, but I'm guessing it's something in Americas, as it's selling over triple there of what it's selling in the EMEAA.

Checking, though, it has averaged nearly double in the Americas of what it sells in the EMEAA for the rest of the year, but it's still mighty impressive. Mario Kart DS, in its 228th week, just outsold GT5 in its second in Americas, and it nearly doubled Mario Kart Wii.

On another note, I wonder what Maro Kart 3DS will do to Mario Kart Wii's sales. Mario Kart Wii heavily boosted Mario Kart DS, would it be likely to expect a similar trend here?

PS: I really like this thread. I think the Opening Post being so long scares off all the uninteresting people, leaving only the people I find interesting still in the thread. It's like a statistics thread filled with only good people. Have I been banned and come to VGChartz heaven?

Oh my, who the heck is buying this game? If I didn't know any better, I'd think it could outdo NSMB DS, :P.

MK3DS could actually boost MKWii. MK was really useful for Nintendo this generation; it helped DS users find a comfortable game to start with on a Wii and vice versa. On top of that, it sold a hell of a lot! If MKWii can have the same relation with MK3DS, then it could get a substantial long-term boost since MKBii won't come out for a while.

I agree with you on the last part, :D. Hail short attention spans!

Super Mario Galaxy - 4.73 million

Publisher totals:
13 games by Nintendo
6 games by Activision
2 games by LucasArts
2 games by Microsoft
2 games by Electronic Arts

For a comparison, only 4 franchises made 5 million last generation. Grand Theft Auto, Pokemon, Madden NFL and Halo.

I wonder how the list will look by the end of the generation.

First place is obvious.

1. Wii Sports - Loads.

Second place is less obvious, but I'm fairly certain it will be New Super Mario Bros. Wii. What can challenge it? In its 55th week, it was only outdone by Black Ops, and that only by 100k, and Kinect Adventures, by 8k. This game is selling craploads, it's going to reach 10 million in half the time Mario Kart Wii did. 15 million is a shoe-in, and I wouldn't put 20 million past this title.

2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 18-22 million

Third spot is a tad trickier, but I'd say that most likely goes to Wii Sports Resort. 15 million is pretty much obvious for this one too, and I'd say a 17-20 million range seems likely.

3. Wii Sports Resort - 17-20 million

Fourth spot should finally go to a non-Nintendo game. Black Ops is doing insanely well, and it's tracking over 1 million better than Modern Warfare 2, as well as selling 100k more in its 4th week. I wouldn't put 15 million past this one either, but it's not going to get much further than that. Around 15 million, I'd say.

4. Black Ops - 15 million.

Oh, Wii Play. That should do around 15 million as well. Tie for that with Black Ops, then.

4. Wii Play.

I'm not sure how much Mario Kart Wii can do. It definitely has a few million left kicking in it, and it all depends on how Nintendo deals with Player's Choice. 14-15 million?

6. Mario Kart Wii - 14-15 million.

Then the 7th spot probably belongs to yet another Call of Duty game; Modern Warfare 2. 13 million ish.

7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 13 million.

Then for 8th spot, I'm not too sure. Mario Kart DS is blasting away right now, and has good chances of making 10 million. Mario Kart 3DS should knock its legs down pretty badly, though. So we have MKDS at ~ 10 million, together with Nintendogs. Then we have Wii Fit Plus, but that's down to Mario Kart Wii levels already. It seems to be fading quicker as well, so 10-11 million-ish for that. New Super Mario Bros. DS is quite low right now, selling just a fourth of Mario Kart DS this week, but it should last a long while. Around 11 million for that, I guess.

8. New Super Mario Bros. DS - 11 million
9 . Wii Fit Plus - 10-11 million
10. Mario Kart DS - 10 million
10. Nintendogs - 10 million

Of the released games, nothing else is going to reach 10 million, or probably even 9 million. I can't quite see what could be released that could make it either, apart from possibly another Call of Duty.

Mario Kart DS is bundled with a red Nintendo DSi XL (at least in the US) right now guys. So that does explain at least some of that increase.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Remember the thread from 20 days ago where we discussed if Mario Kart Wii would pass 25 million by the end of the year, and the general consensus was no?

Well, unless the Americas numbers somehow drop from last week... it just made 24.9 million or so. With 2 weeks left of the year.

It could make 26 million by the end of the year, actually. Looking at the data, 35 million is the low-end now, rather than the high-end.

It's going to be fun recompiling the list in January.

xD, all this shows is that analyses are pretty worthless when it comes to this industry.

I bet that list that you came up with and I attempted (failed) to correct will look really funny 3 years from now, :P.
