SONY is definitely gonna lose that battle..lol..NINTENDO is literally one step ahead as always.

Not really as they haven't announced Wii HD and if they don't this year and most probably will not it could be FATAL as for next gen they just can't bring an HD upgrade

and by that time NATAL,MOVE would have eaten Wii's share

Lol crazzyman is that you? Do you honestly think that move and natal will actually hurt the Wiis marketshare?

not hurt but with wii sales dropping, people think 360 and ps3 as upgrades and will go for it

and if wii hd doesn't arrive then they will eat wii's share and nintendo won't have that good name to carry on to nect gen

and with all the companies arriving in next 2 years wit new consoles, nintendo won't have the advantage that a gen winner has with its brand name built

and no i'm not crazzyman

ok *wink* not crazzyman *wink*, but I honestly don't think your average consumer would go and buy a HD platform just for the sake of HD, especially if they already own a Wii.

the averAGE CASUAL consumer doesn't really buy an HD because its HD but because they think its better

m ost don't look at the details if everyone has it and its the thing to have, they get it

Price is gonna be the major issue Sony faces in this regard. You can currently purchase a Wii with WiiSports, a Wii MotionPlus, and WiiSports Resort for only $200. The cheapest PS3 available is $300, and that's just for the system. Add a game, Move, and the Playstation Eye (it will probably be necessary) to that, and you're looking at over $400, more than twice the cost of the same amount of content available out-of-the-box with a Wii. Since initial value is something many of the average gamers base their purchasing decisions on, it'll be really difficult for Sony to put any kind of dent in the Wii's momentum, especially if the games they offer for Move are largely the same kinds of games available on Wii.

ps3 will get cheaper eventually, wii can't do 3d, or higher resolution than 480p, or blu ray ,

sony needs software to sell the features. if they find theirs?.

What do you mean by 'better'? As in brand recognition/equity or just that something's priced higher automatically making it 'better'? I'm sure the majority know what HD is but do they know that Wii can't output full HD? Don't know, don't think so.

I guess it'll come down to the price/benefits ratio, if natal or move are priced way too high most they probably won't do that great in the mass market.

majority know what hd but not technicle, they just know its higher resolution

they don't critically point of graphical or other mistakes

just that its the cool thing so i am doing it

you really think all the causual would be casuals if they cared about these things?

If the casuals don't care for HD then how will "NATAL,MOVE eat Wii's share" ???? Other than HD I don't really see many discerible benefits lack of wii sports.

they don't care in technical terms but they know its better  and have know from someone

like if you see Modern Warfare 2 sales, not all nkew or followed the franchises but everybody knew it was gonna be better and 'COOL'

IF $299 it would have been overwhelming Wii as Wii only took off as PS3 was too expensive and people wemt for the inexpensive suff

you really think the age when PS brand was so strong that Wii would have taken over

wii sports/wii fit popularity only grew because there were no hardcore titles in the Wii library

a casual gamer really doesn't follow games but only whatever that is popular so if PS3 was $299 then Wii sports and Wii fit wouldn't have been popular and hence the casual crowd must have not even heard a bout it

most casuals don't know a thing about gaming, thry just buy the 'COOL' thing out there and that was wii sports and wii fit

PS4 will atleast be more wanted than Wii as Playstation brand is most famous if you look worldwide and also Nintendo name chnaging for every console makes then even more lower known bran again talking about worldwide and not top countries

the whole idea of PAST PLATSTATIO BUYERS RETURNING TO sony??? -never meant that, jus that it has a brand name and games and people highly desire it even today and you saw what a price cut did to PS3 sales

Again, why do you act as if Wii's success is entirely dependent on how the PS3 did? The Wii went for a much larger market than the Playstations catered to - girls, children, and women, for example. What games would have attracted all the people that enjoy Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Mario Kart, and others that pushed tens of millions of Wii's? I hope you aren't thinking games like MGS4 or Gran Turismo would have satisfied this crowd.

It looks like you believe customers (the "casual gamers") are idiots, and don't know what they're buying. This is simply not true. People know what they want, and however hard it may be for you to believe, this gen they picked the Wii, due to the simple, accessible gameplay that no other console offers. Just because these people have different values than you, does not mean they are idiots.

Notice how there are a few standout titles that become breakout successes, like Just Dance? It's because people don't usually just buy any crap they see on the shelf, they'll buy what they know is good from word of mouth. Games like this, or even the Wii itself, are not flukes, and instead of pretending they are, try looking into why they sell so well. I'll give you a hint, the people are enjoying the games.

How will the PS4 be more desired than the Wii's successor? It's an uphill fight for Sony no matter how you look at it, as the Wii generation (especially kids, girls) has made tons of Nintendo fans. Keep in mind that Nintendo themselves have made practically all the killer apps for the Wii (the Wii brand, Mii's, Mario), so all of their power (popular IPs ) carries onto next gen. This is in contrast to Sony selling tons of systems due to third party killer apps, which won't help next gen because their games may show up on other consoles.

As for the price cut, we did see PS3 sales skyrocket, but it was impressive numbers only for a losing console. The Wii still outsold both HD consoles combined during Q4 2009.

It'll take two years for Sony to build up a decent library of Move titles (if they ever eventuate). A new Nintendo console is 1.25-2.75 years away (end 2011-start 2013). The concept that a current generation 2nd/3rd place console can withstand the launch of the market leaders replacement is very unlikely. If the PS3 cannot withstand a Wii, then it definately cannot withstand the Wiis replacement, ditto for the Xbox 360.

Tease.

Dude, thats not the point, if the mass market was aware that a product had improvements over another, but didn't need it, there'd be no demand for that certain product in that market and without demand how would that product do well in any market and certainly wouldn't compete against an established product for market share.

The Wii went for the larger casual market but that merket doesn't really follow gaming but only what popular.

gran turismo and MGS4 are out of the question

they aren't idiots but if they don't follow gaming and if PS3 at $299 definatley would have has a big start, the Wii WOULD NEVER HAVE come into spotlight and if it doesn' come into spotlight casual non-follower know very less about it

the Wii still outsold cause it came into spotlight but if PS3 had never allowed that,it would never have been known by the casuals

you just don't understand how gaming strategies work

now if today or next year Wii HD launches, casual will buy it and from the start it will be in the spotlight and will tyhen continue to sell

but if in launches in 2012 with the name dropping in brand recognition,we know that HARDCORE fans of PS3 and 360 are definately gonna buy there systems but it isn't that sure for Wii then as casual recognition and spotlight will be covered by PS4 and 720
