Games like this, or even the Wii itself, are not flukes, and instead of pretending they are, try looking into why they sell so well. I'll give you a hint, the people are enjoying the games. How will the PS4 be more desired than the Wii's successor? It's an uphill fight for Sony no matter how you look at it, as the Wii generation (especially kids, girls) has made tons of Nintendo fans. Keep in mind that Nintendo themselves have made practically all the killer apps for the Wii (the Wii brand, Mii's, Mario), so all of their power (popular IPs ) carries onto next gen. This is in contrast to Sony selling tons of systems due to third party killer apps, which won't help next gen because their games may show up on other consoles. As for the price cut, we did see PS3 sales skyrocket, but it was impressive numbers only for a losing console. The Wii still outsold both HD consoles combined during Q4 2009. |
The Wii went for the larger casual market but that merket doesn't really follow gaming but only what popular.
gran turismo and MGS4 are out of the question
they aren't idiots but if they don't follow gaming and if PS3 at $299 definatley would have has a big start,the Wii WOULD NEVER HAVE come into spotlight and if it doesn' come into spotlight casual non-follower know very less about it
the Wii still outsold cause it came into spotlight but if PS3 had never allowed that,it would never have been known by the casuals
you just don't understand how gaming strategies work
now if today or next year Wii HD launches,casual will buy it and from the start it will be in the spotlight and will tyhen continue to sell
but if in launches in 2012 with the name dropping in brand recognition,we know that HARDCORE fans of PS3 and 360 are definately gonna buy there systems but it isn't that sure for Wii then as casual recognition and spotlight will be covered by PS4 and 720
