Google: MS Beats Sony On E3 Internet Buzz

Google statistics show the combined interest in Microsoft's exclusives far outstrips Sony's...

Google Insight is a relatively new tool available to SEO analysts or those who simply wish to be nosy. Using it, we were actually trying to ascertain priorites for the myriad games being shown at E3. As Marti De Bergi once famously said, what we got was more... a lot more.

“we were able to apply a score to each exclusive confirmed title”

You see, using the internet's uber-interest benchmark (Call Of Duty) we were able to apply a score to each exclusive confirmed title being shown. Adding these scores together gave us a simple measure of comparative magnitude, showing the total amount of buzz for Microsoft's first-party exclusives to be nearly one and a half times that of the combined Sony offerings. - 1.4237 to 1, to be precise.

IS this an accurate technique they have used?

I think maybe SONY has less pre-E3 buzz as they revealed some exclusives

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It's probably ranking both people searching for and articles of the subjects.

As for the table they had, the scores added up, Sony even had the advantage of having a CRAP load of various games going into it, but MS has the advantage of having marketing that reaches many people and fewer games to fragment users and hype so EVERYONE is searching for and making articles of Halo Reach and Gears 3 while you don't have concentrations like that for Sony.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

More people are searching for Natal, so they can talk isht about it!

But this is good news?

Probably more people are googling Natal, since there's zero info on it. Everybody is desperate for news about Natal. Move, on the other hand, is pretty clear. Everybody knows how it works, how it will look, and how much it will (probably) be.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

No one cares about Nintendo? It's always Sony vs Microsoft.

wtf, i just went over to google insight to try and get an idea of how they came up with these number and there are none.  just numberless graphs showing the relative interest over time.  even using call of duty as a bench mark how the heck do you create a score with no idea of the scaling?

hell, i did a direct comparison of "halo reach" to "gran turismo" and at this time gran turismo has more interest.  so how does halo reach get a score of 29 and gran turismo get a score of 13?!?

i'd like to know who here googles for anything game related?

i dont, i have my websites for gaming related news and information bookmarked and always go there directly

i google mostly for information on movies or other stuff

Wow, Halo: Reach and Gears of War 3 are beasts!

Yeah, after reading Kitler's post I just ran a search at Google Insight and I also got Gran Turismo 5 > Halo Reach hype over the past 7 days.  Which is weird, because Halo Reach has way more preorders at this point.

Maybe Nowgamer is using a really different methodology?

Actually this is only about confirmed exclusives. So Sony revealing some exclusives should help them, not hurt them.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
