I was actually a fan of the series up until Tomb Raider 3. Even then I still played that and Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. I really enjoyed the series when it was basically just a puzzle/action/adventure game but I hate what they have done with the series. Hopefully with this game they'll go back to the series' roots.
Tomb Raider started to suck before it left PS1.
However, Legend was quite good. Just...short. If they build from there they can make it a respectable franchise, though I believe there will still be people pissing and moaning just because it's Tomb Raider.

no it stopped being worth playing when it stopped appearing on the saturn, 2, 3, whatever 4 is and chronicle aren't any good, only the first one was,
and personally I really think legend and anniversary did a nice job of hauling the series out of the gutter

Tomb Raider 2 and 4 actually weren't that bad. Although the formula was getting tired there were still some really good puzzles in them.
