The thing is Sony is not going to keep selling like cake  if it dos not drop cost of unit by a big number. Plus it see this as pushing its 3D TV effort as well. What lost they take on the PS3 they will get back with 3D TV sales

 

 

Oh yes a price like this is definitly a attack on the wii's general playerbase for sure.

If the price cut is true, it will definitely help Sony sell more consoles and improve their market share.

I can understand you saying the 360 might be doomed because the PS3 isn't THAT far behind, but saying the Wii is doomed might be going a little far. :P

i know but this is how i see it the playstation fan base (120 million) is still out there, if this kind of price cut happens i realistically cannot see why loads of them would not return back to ps, so yeah saying wii was doomed was a little harsh,  where what i meant was ps3 will outsell the wii for the rest of this generation  (if the price cut happens)


Yeah but expecting 120 million people from the PS2 fan base to move to the PS3 even at that price point sure is wishful thinking. Not to mention many of those 120 million people were into the PS2's casual games and moved to the Wii now. It might top the Wii for a few months (maybe more) once the price is cut, but I wouldn't say it would outsell the Wii for the rest of the generation. That's just what I think of course.


Lol indeed it would take years, and maybe you are right maybe it is wishful thinking, but you can't deny that once you have had the ps experience it is hard not to want to experience it again, i think most of the Wii owners are waiting for the right price in my own opinion....

anyway lets return back to the topic as I don't want to push my luck, roll on E3!!

Fair enough, although same can be said for the Wii (Nintendo) experience, and 360 experience. I personally don't see much Wii owners going to PS3 even with a price cut. A lot of the original Sony fan base were probably casuals, just like the Wii is now. And most casuals probably don't really relate to a "ps experience" and probably are content with only 1 console. No doubt the price cut will improve sales, but by what margin I can't say. I just wouldn't go off and say the Wii is doomed, but you already addressed that yourself. I guess we will see when the time comes, and of course this is just my opinion.

But yeah, back on topic.

Btw.  What motion controlls do you speak of? 

Between 13/14s into the video on the Right Monitor, he has a DS3 in his hands.  This is definitely the PS3 renamed perhaps.  Not a new system.

actually sony had the whole market for themself last generation.

they lost their casual touch, its up to sony to get it back. they have to find the balance between casual price and profits.

i really dont care while they company keeps doing great games.

Well Sony didn't have the WHOLE market share last generation, but they did have most of it.

And that's just it, they lost their casual touch and a bunch of their casual gamers. It wont be easy for them to get their casuals back (they definitely wont get all of them back) but we'll see. I doubt a price cut will lure the casuals back to the PS3 but we'll see what the MOVE does to help. All we can do is wait and see, and I don't think you have to worry about great games coming from Sony, for the "hardcore" gamers at least.

All I'm saying is, that in my opinion the PS3 price cut wont doom the Wii, but that's all it is, an opinion. I'm not trying to force this on anyone.

I'm not buying this from SONY, I thunk its a nifty way to market Firmware 4.0. 

This is the same company that said there would be no PS3 price drop officially 2 days before they announced one.

Or maybe we just want to believe its true now.
