Forums - Microsoft - Portal 2 pushed to 2011

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/09/portal-2-delayed-until-2011/

In another cheeky press release, Valve has announced that Portal 2 has been delayed until 2011. The sequel to 2007's innovative (and tardy) first-person disorientation dissertation was originally scheduled to arrive on Xbox 360 and PC this holiday -- and we all believed it. Still, there are worse fates to befall the industry, as Aperture Laboratories correctly notes that "all life on earth won't instantaneously stop as every molecule in your body explodes at the speed of light, which is what would happen should a rip ever appear in the fabric of Valve Time."

We'd offer some helpful advice on getting the game out quicker -- like, have you tried making it a Left 4 Dead game? -- but we're already reeling from three disappointments in a row: The cancellation of the Portal 2 E3 press conference, the continuing mystery of its supplanting "surprise," and thenumbing absence of Half-Life 2: Episode Three. This is a tri-HMPH!

Aaaaaawwwwww... Oh well, it's a Valve game, we shouldn't be too surprised...

While Portal 1 was pretty much the pinnacle of gaming in 2007, I am not really excited for portal 2 yet. May be because I haven't seen any gameplay yet... I think they stretched the portal idea as far as they could in part 1.

That bites.  I absolutely loved the original Portal.

I hope we find out a firm release date soon.  =(

Well this is sad news indeed.

  Kinect! who needs video games!

Possibly because they might want to bundle it with Half-life 2: Episode 3 and make another Orange Box... the Blue Box :P?

XD Or.. so I hope that's the case.

@Myak-04

I think thats whats going to happen. Portal 2 and episode 3 in a bundle would be worth the wait.

Somewhere out there Yahtzee is killing a kitten...

2010 is a lie!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
