You where not kidding! It being one of the most simple songs ever to play makes it worse. I wonder how bad they play Molly's Lips which is probably Nirvana's simplest song to play and probably amoung the simplest ever.

Yeah, I have to agree. Though I understand that many people have their own ideas of music, I find the crude and offensive statements in rap music to be... well, unnecessary. It's like going to the movies to watch a depressing movie (revolutionary road T_T). Movies are supposed to be escapism, a place you go to get a bit of a laugh or some excitement. Why watch/listen to something that will only lead to more anger and potentially result in being cynical ?

Meh, that's just my opinion.

:D This is what I like to listen to...

You should avoid watching Grave of Fireflies by Studio Ghibli, then.  It's pretty depressing.  Movies aren't only to entertain, and they certainly aren't "supposed to be escapism."  They are an art form just like literature, sculpture, etc.  In that sense, they are about expression, and there are plenty of depressing/unhappy things to express.

Here's some of that "Crude and offensive" rap (Rap comes in at ~2:30):

Sorry, but stating a known fact is not trolling. It's so bad that the C walked away in disgust, and on the other side of the song, the E thought that it was so lowly it wasn't worth the full word for what it does to music.

Lol, sorry, that was an early morning ignorance post XD. I wasn't referring to art, I was only trying to say that I'd prefer to see an uplifting movie rather than one that will depress me. I agree, I shouldn't have said 'supposed to be..', it's my preference and others may not feel the same way.

I'm an artist, so I'm definitely not confined into believing that there is only one form of art. So, sorry that you got the wrong impression.

By the way, I have seen Grave of the Fireflies, and I liked it :D (though yes, very depressing) .

Some examples of good rap music, your conclusion is based off of what you hear of mainstream manufactured rap, which is like judging all instrumental based music by greenday or U2 because that's what you hear on the radio.  Also some of the examples you gave were hilariously bad, I mean metallica?  Srsly?

I included links to the lyrics because they're great but people who don't listen to rap often sometimes can't pick stuff up if it's being said too fast or with or syncopated in a weird way (like blackalicious does.)

Metallica is amazing. Maybe I should have done Master of Puppets, Orion, For Whom the Bell Tolls, or To Live is to Die. All excellent songs.

Trust me I've heard my fair share of metallica, I even own ride the lightning and the black album.  They're mediocre metal at best.

I agree with this thread.

The only rap i can tolerate at all is the rap in Linkin park, as there tends to be decent music as well.

My idea of good music:
