Obvious. This has happened before in 2008, happens roughly the last 2 weeks of July and August. There's a rumor Microsoft is going to drop the price so the haters gonna hate, because they won't be able to hate once they have. Sales swing back in their favour and the Playstation people revert back to putting all their hopes on a new 01nm cell that will drop the PS3 to $129.99, Sony obviously can afford a $170 price drop because they are magic and the PSP was responsible for the $890Million loss these last 12 months.

Don't forget, dropping more than $100 in 5 years is desperate, but dropping $300 in 3 years is totally not!

Also Infamous 2 is a system seller and no-one even remembers what Halo is so it will do nothing for sales. People are just waiting for Syphon Filter 7 and Twisted Metal 6. Once these staple PS2...PSone franchises hit, PS3 sales will be unstoppable...after all, it's only the 6th year of this generation. It's still early! 

That's pretty much what we can expect for 2 more years....one of the less fun results of a longer generation.

A price cut saved the PS3 and its gonna save the 360.

Funny shit man!

Sony have sacrificed every nickel of profit they ever made on the PS2 and more trying despeately to not look like this gens biggest loser.  Still 5m behind the upstart M$ console and l10 m in SW.  If anyone is pulling away it's Nintendo.  Look at yearly charts to get an idea of what's really going on.  Despite finally releasing some of their biggest and most anticipated titles this year PS3 is only 3m ahead of the 360 in WW SW.  Still that's a huge improvment over every other year.   Let's see Sony show even 1 qtr. of black ink in the PS3 era before the bragging starts.  It's easy to sell product at a loss.  Your fav. co. has had a nice turn around in hardware that has the potential to do the same to their bottom line..  If they stop subsidizing HW with SW.

Sigh, If Natal is reasonably priced the PS3 will not over take the 360.  If the 360 drops price this year (which they will), then it is 2008 all over again where the 360 will win the holidays with by  a few million and the gap will be 8 MM again.  If MS decides to go for the jugular and do both then the PS3 will get swamped.

The other thing to remember is that Japan is completely irrelevant this gen and will be even more so leading into next gen so the Japanese numbers should probably be thrown out.

Supercat, just for a moment take of the rose tinted glasses off (3D model I am sure) and consider that your analysis of Natal failing is a million miles from truth and it turns out to be huge. Guess what if that happened then a price cut would not be the only salvation for the 360, it was certainly true that a price cut was the saviour of the PS3 however.
