Forums - Gaming - My big worry about the future of motion gaming

...Excuse me?

Why should the existence of motion control decrease overall quality of games? If you're making a Move/Natal game, you're selling to a smaller audience than if you were making a regular controller game! Yes, the Wii has quite a large quantity of shovelware, like the PS2, and every winning console before it. The console with the largest user base has the largest userbase willing to buy crap.

Shovelware has nothing to do with motion control. A bad game is a bad game. People won't buy it (9 times out of 10)

that.

^^think about it if you have games with tacked on controls, as with what happened on the wii, lots of fans will be uspet.

or what if you just get casual games on the natal, that user base is soley used to more hardcore experiences, i honestly do not know how they would react tho that kind of change.

also normally I am very positive about what ps move can bring to the future of games, I am just saying that if developers don't make usuage of their capabilities it could be a very bad thing for us all.

*sorry wtf is up with this site on explr 8*

I have a few issues with your comments.

1-They are more geared at anit natal while you try to phrase things for move in a better light*yes I know already how pro ps3 you are*

2-Honestly how the fug do you come up with Natal user base as hardcore and moves isnt?

We both can cut the crap ur saying...move and Natal are aimed at 1 group....the ''Casual''...A group that has proved pays more does more and over all supports more than us sooo called ''Hardcore''.*cuz face it..we be picky mofo's*

This issue has already been delt with the wii...it's called 1st party and great 3rd party support*well not soo much 3rd for the wii but its there hence monster hunter tri etc on wii and not ps3/360*

Move and Natal are just a added pro to the HD Twins*hardware wise..get real...sooo simliar its not kewl*

This thread starts with a ''T''....and We all know what that means.

Bad games always exist, and everybody should know that motion control isn't the reason for the Wii having the most shovelware by now. It's the market leader, which means it naturally attracts the most garbage, whilst at the same time third parties have practically ignored it or simply put some throwaway game on the console.

The simple truth is that here we are, nearly four years since motion control went crazy, and only a handful of devs have actually properly attempted to do something with it.

1. sorry if it looks this way but natal has not showed any hardcore titles yet, therefore i could not put in that it has already the potential to do so, when currently it does not

2. again sorry ps move's base is mixed actually (thanks to the eyetoy), but i alredy said ps move has shown hardcore titles, therefore is less likely to upset the user base, provided no mass shovelware comes out.

I have a new worry for us all, with every company (sony, ms and ninty on the motion bandwagon), do you think thee is a chance for the shovelware problem to get so big that it send's us backward to the atari days??

I mean that caused big problems as people stopped buying games, because companies was too happy to pop out poor quality game in the hope of making $$??

I hope this is not the case as sony has already shown it has hardcore titles(socom 4, lbp2) lined up for the move, but I still think we all need to be a little bit worried about what motion gaming will bring to this generation.

I also think this is the reason why a lot of people are againt motion control, personally I cannot wait for socom 4 and ape escape but I do not want the industry to take a step backwards in quality of games.

Please discuss and no copy or clone moaning allowed!!

people are afraid of change. I'm all for motion controls. Companies are'nt going to pop out poor quality games in the hope of making $$. In the Atari days you did'nt have all of these game magazines and internet gaming sites. People are more informed these days,so I really don't see companies doing that.

anyway as far as the other things ps2 had it's fair share of shovelware admitedly, but wii  definately had more shovelware than good games, only ninty games you could rely on (with exceptions like zack and wiki), admitedly it was 3rd parties making cheap games with tacked on controls that caused such problems, all i am saying is i don't want them to treat 360/ps3 the same because it would be bad for the gaming industry.

"no copy and clone moaning"? what the hell does that mean?

and this "worry" you have for us all isn't remotely new ...

Basically no winging about who copied who allowed.

Or you'll what?

No need to be argumentative, you know exactly how these threads turn out when people moan about copying & cloning seece.

@jneul

Thats a good worry BUT SONY made it clear it doesn't want shovelware on its platform a few days ago, I think SONY shares you worry & they'll be doing everything they can to prevent this

The industry is too mainstream & powerful now for a Atari days disaster to happen, so that shouldn't worry you anyway. We have games debuting higher than blockbuster movies do nowadays, an Atari type disaster happening is slim,.

of course wii has good games if i said it did not have any, I would be trolling and lying, it's just unfortuantely it also has many games like carnival games urgh, so basically I avoid them like the plague, and buy games like SMG2 instead, and Im looking forwards to the new zelda, xenoblade and the last story, hopefully we shall see more and more quality games .

cool i dunno why people assumed i was attacking natal lool at least you understood my underlying worry, and like you said hopefully the industry is too mainstream now for that to happen, not to mention companies do seem to be making an effort to reduce the amount of shovelware which is good.

also can't wait for more games like xenoblade, last story on th wii:P:P super hyped lool
