Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: MS and Sony motion devices are “threatening”

I think taking the chance on motion  controls will pay off way more then following in its wake.

The boat has already sailed in and out.

Shigeru Miyamoto feeling threatened can only be good for us consumers.

Care to take it up a notch Nintendo???

Though Monster Hunter Tri was very good, its low sales is for me disapointing. The Wii can't seem to shake its "casual gamer only" look no mater how hard they try. Its been labeled.

Red Steel was even more disapointing.

Nintendo is making efforts to bring Hardcore to Wii and its failing.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The exec was answering a question on whether or not she saw parallels between the uptake of motion controllers and the “borrowing” of analog sticks in the PlayStation generation.

OMG.... I always thought Miyamoto was a guy.... stupid me...

Maybe he's mistaken Myamoto for Cammie

Ew Ew EWW!

OT:

Yeah I guess they might be a bit afraid about their marketshare, but didn't he also say back once he sees them as a compliment to what he;s done?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I think the translation broke. Doesn't sound too Miyamoto.

Well Miyamoto does have the right to call Move and Natal copies because I'm pretty sure if Nintendo didn't make the Wii with Motion Controllers, neither Sony or Microsoft would've even attempted at Motion Controllers. Sure he did say he felt honoured that Sony and MS were embracing the Motion Controller, but that doesn't mean he can't label them as so called 'copies'.

lol

But then maybe the interview was with Cammie from the start since Miyamoto stated a while ago he felt honoured or something for their controls

The fact that they call Miyamoto a she makes this whole article void.

Should be very interesting to see who wins "the copy wars", PS Move vs. Natal.

Hehe Thx megaman. and to add a little more.

Like Sony and Xbox 360 are bringing casual way way way to late in the gen. and will do as well as Wii is doing with its hardcore line.

So who is in better situation in all this?(I say PS3)  if Wii feels threatened thats going to push Nintendo to go HD and up the performence.Could this indicate they will move to close the Gap with a new consule (other then 3DS). (this is if this artical has any reality to it) Nintendo needs a new Consule that isent labled casual if it wants to keep up.

Thoughts?
