Media Create is just as accurate as Famitsu.

All we really know is that the two consoles are selling at around the same rate.

Yeah, last week is (for intents and purposes) a tie.

Good for both companies.

My End of 2008 Hardware Predictions (console only):

Wii : 50 million

360: 28 million

PS3: 24 million

These predictions were made on January 3rd and won't be revised

Wii sales are increasing.

@alex59: In addition to what yojimbo said, PS3 sales just increased from a string of good ads, good-selling games, and price cut, plus Japan should be heading into holiday soon.

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

Here is my theory, transition of product availability. Wii had pretty much won Japan for the time and with Wii Fit right around the corner that trend isn't likely to change with the demand. America on the other hand was heading into the biggest selling season of the year with Wii reaching cult status and Nintendo needed to turn some heads. Also, 360 in the US is the only thing Wii hasn't beaten or caught up to. And if Nintendo were to achieve that by the end of the year, many more developers might jump on board.

I would say catching 360 American sales numbers by the end of the year is a big goal for Nintendo. Big enough that they routed supply toward US shelves. We'll see a lot more Japan allotment when Wii Fit hits, but America will still be the biggest priority. At least until Nintendo can ramp up production even further or until after the holiday season, because while they don't want Sony to start catching up in Japan, they don't have to worry about that too much right now.

To back this up look at the launch to date chart.

As you can see, both Microsoft and to a lesser extent Sony have shown increased momentum coming into the holidays at the end of their lines, but Wii, not so much. It isn't because the demand isn't there we know, but look how straight that line is. If you look at the individual charts for America, Japan, and Europe then you will see much greater variances with Japan declining while Europe and America increases. This can most likely be due to supply constraints. That straight line is simply the speed at which Nintendo can produce at this time. If they had more factories the incline would be much more drastic, but they don't. They are routing to the area that can do the most damage for them right now.  I would also say they are saving some Wii's off the top for Wii Fits debut in all areas.  Simply put, Nintendo cannot produce enough for the demand in all areas.

And a new model, with true next-gen color (or how did it go, when 360 Elite was released).

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.
