Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else surprised by the Sin & Punishment 2 reviews?

I love the n64 Sin & Punishment, It was a great and dynamic game. However, I could not anticipate that its successor would receive anywhere near the critical acclaim that it is currently getting (87 on metacritic with 20 + reviews). This said because the game is a rail shooter with added freedom and also because reviewers usually hate on anything that should be listed as wii and hardcore in the same line.

Anyone else plan on picking up the game? Or was as excited by the reviews as I was.

Oh I'm picking the game up, but for the good reasons.

My guess why it got high reviews? It's a game by Treasure. They have an amazing track record. With that said, I seriously doubt many reviewers played most of their games. Though, they've heard about most of them. So, some reviewers think they want to be "hardcore" and are giving the game high reviews just because of that.

Look at Ikaruga reviews on XBLA. The game had a small cult following, and since it was now more accessible it got a higher meta compared to the DC and GameCube version? I mean wth, it's the same game with just an added replay feature and leaderboards?

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

I plan to get it ... eventually. Too many games that I still have not gotten to play.

Yeah, that is entirely probable, Man the reviewer community is flighty. Its funny I only read VGChartz reviews for the most part. I find the community here to be more applicable to my tastes

I'm debating whether I should get this or not.  It looks to be a great game but with Monster Hunter Tri, SMG 2, and Metroid: Other M, a job, and a girlfriend, I might not have time for this.

When S&P2 was announced at Nintendo's 2008 Autumn conference, I almost cried with joy, which gave me some strange looks as I heard the news in an IT lesson.

The tragedy is despite hyping the game since, there are so many games for me to play at the moment and it will have to wait for a vacancy in my gaming schedule

Man, if it were not for this Memorial Day weekend I don't know what I would have had to do with my backlog. I finally got to finish all those wiiware gems i had stacking up.

Now MH TRI has been consuming me to no end. I haven't gotten past 5 stars in Galaxy 2, and I think I am going to desperately need to find time so as to play S & P 2 as well. We need to come up with a gameplan. I am in your exact predicament with the job and girlfriend.

not suprised at all game looks like dope as fuck

Game is amazing... Kickass challenging gamplay, great music and great boss design. Treasure never dissapoints.

gonna try it out soon, my friend got it, but im still pretty busy right now (exams)

i have a feeling it'll be cool :)
