To be frank, if I turned in a project that looked like this, my professors would fail me so hard that... yeah... let's just say it would be ugly.

Seriously some of you guys come out with the most offensive and rediculous statements! If, in two months, you single-handedly coded over 500 individual pages crammed full of CSS3 touches, advanced jquery routines to reduce pageloads and have dynamic tabbing / updates, created entire backend for uploading review and previews with image cropping tools and so on, created a suite of new charting tools to compare data and still had enough time to run a business and upload the latest data each week for 3 different regions (over 10,000 data points) then your "professors" would fail you so hard? Are you insane or something? Have you ever coded a website?

Wow. Some of you guys just deserve to be banned outright.

Sorry ioi, I gotta say that in itself is a ridiculous statement. While the amount of work you've put in is unquestioned, you can't expect everyone to like the final result; if a person thinks a website is unattractive then expressing that opinion in a thread labelled "complaints/suggestions" is the right place to do it. He didn't attack you personally, nor did he criticize the level of effort you put in. Banning someone for expressing an opinion, or suggesting they should be banned, is a bit over the top.

You've made a major overhaul to a system people had become accustomed to and you're well within your right to do so. But you shouldnt expect everyone to like it.

I think the purpose of this thread was to provide constructive ciriticism (or constructive compliments) Simply saying "it suxors" will not get the website changed to how it was, nor will it provide any help for ioi in improving it. The only thing it serves to do is make ioi feel unappreciated.

There are a lot of complaints about 3.0 in this thread that ioi has NOT had an exception to, and they follow the format

Hi guys, I have problem x with the site as it currently is, I think it should be more like y, is there any way can can make it more like y and less like x? Thanks for your time.

I'm not disputing that the original comment was in poor taste but that doesn't justify the response ioi gave to him. To suggest someone should be banned because they criticized the appearance of the website is unnecessary and will serve only to encourage negative responses.

We are only on this website on the assumption that we obey the forum rules, which include

"treat other users with respect and courtesy"

As well as an entire section warning that you should be careful about criticising the website (although I think that is more to cover people who insist that a game is over/under tracked without evidence

I agree that a permaban would be excessive, but currently the people have been given an unofficial warning that if they continue to break the forum rules they might be banned

Can I ask you to locate the section of the original comment in which that person insulted another user? He didn't, he made a comment about the layout of the website. The website and ioi are not interchangeable; they are not the same thing. If I were to insult McDonalds for example, I wouldn't be insulting the workers there or the manager, nor would I expect to be forcibly removed from the establishment for voicing a criticism.

I didn't say he insulted ioi, I said he didn't treat him with 'respect and courtesy', which is requested by the forum rules. The specific statement is that which ioi quoted

Again, he doesn't even refer to ioi in his comment. The website and ioi are not interchangeable. Calling the website ugly is not a slight on ioi at all.

but he practically said "ioi, you failed so bad at 3.0, it's so ugly"

ot: plase ioi, don't ignore my mobile problem

I just tried to view my DS games and received the following error message:

Bad Request

I can view all of my other game collections just fine.

Even if he had worded it in that way, that's still not worthy of banning him over. To reiterate, I don't approve of the comment or the way in which it was worded, I just think the reaction, or rather overreaction from ioi wasn't justified.

Dude, you're wrong. Everyone and their grandma knows ioi built this site. His comment was purely attacking the creators of the site. It was rude and technically against the forums rules. ioi has every right to say, hey, that is uncalled for and do it again and your banned.

His comment had no purpose but to attack the creator/designer.
