That'd be me, yeah. Your opitons are to either pirate the SNES/GBA version or wait for the remake, because the PSX version sucks way too much to play properly.

Sorry.

What's wrong with the PSX version exactly?

Load times. Load times to go into battles, load times to move between areas, load times for cutscenes, load times to pause and go between menus. The game wasn't designed to have load times, isn't paced that way, and the load times in the PSX version VI are for some reason worse than any other PS1 Final Fantasy.

At the risk of starting a major argument, I think there's a lot more to why they need to make a remake of FFVII than just a graphical overhaul.  Even the creators of the game and Kitase specifically have stated the game was rushed and the story incomplete.  Hence why so many sequels were made to try to complete the story.  More than any other Final Fantasy game, FFVII needs a remake just to fix the games story, along with the graphics.

But more than that, I personally feel the game has problems in other areas.  They need to improve the flow of the game as well as the gameplay engine.  The flow of the game needs improving simply because about half the game feels like a lot of pointless side quests or forced extra junk not tied to the story (Yuffie stealing your materia, cloud and tifa go 'missing', searching for Big Materia, constant Jenova attacks....).  And the gameplay engine could use some real improvement.  Even FFVI felt more insppired and for much of the game, FFVII boiled down to the classic spaming attack and heal until you ran into a boss who could only be defeated with a certain Materia.

In all ways, FFVII has definitely shown its age.  Unlike the other two PSX Final Fantasy games or even FFVI on the SNES, which are still quite playable.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Really?? I don't remember that at all, but then I've never actually finished the game LOL. You're talking about the Anthology or whatever right? I think I should boot it up again and see for myself...

It makes the game feel incredibly slow.

the music in FF VII is wack, well that's my opinion.. I believe the music in Kingdom Hearts tops any game.. and FF XIII has way better music than FF VII

Ugh! You can't be serious, the music in FFXIII is so bland and forgettable, it's actually my biggest complain about the game. The rest is great!

Signature goes here!

I just played it and it wasn't that bad. There was only a slight pause when bringing up the menu and that was it. Maybe because I was running it on my PS3? Anyways, I can see why people would say FF6 is the best. The music is great and the characters have great backstory and personalities.

Well I'm just going to say this.. Final Fantasy VII is the only RPG that I played multiple times. 8 times from start to end. I have never done that to any other RPG's or games I've played before..It's the only game I have played so many times over and over. For example, I Played Final Fantasy XIII once and stopped. Only 3 more trophies to go but I say fuk it coz I lost interest in getting it in one play through.

And-

You guys need to understand already that Final Fantasy VII is a successful game. I'm reminded of the time when SE brought up the idea of a Final Fantasy VII remake on their Twitter page, and the page exploded...and SE was surprised. They were actually surprised, as if they really didn't know there were millions of old Squaresoft fans still out there. To me this just proves Square Enix wants new fans while forgetting about the old loyal ones. ofcoz Final Fantasy XIII sold lots because of name alone. Now that being said, NIER and FFXIII is their way of grabbing new fans.

i think it has. its a game i played throug only recently though i had seen about 6 of my friends play through it and still found it to be a very enjoyable game! i may not play it again any time soon but i wouldnt mind playing a remake! infact i support it!

i think its unfair that they showed a tech demo and never released the game xD
