i think the movie was okay, but great as a video game adaptation. The theme of the sands of time were great. I hope they make a sequel with the dahaka.

In about a half hour, I'm going to see it so I will edit this to say what I thought of it.

sadly the movie only made $10,200,000 friday only
so i expect around $40 mil for the whole weekend
that doesnt sound good unless the movie have great legs

Yeah I never really expected it to be the next Pirates. I think it will probably end up with at least $125,000,000 in North America though.

After showing some pre-release promise at being the possible breakout VG adaptation movie (in terms of mainstream acclaim and popularity), it seems PoP is going to end up not even being the best of a bad bunch (though it's still the best reviewed live action VG adaptation).

Box office wise I doubt it'll make $100 million in North America, and it probably won't make $200 million world wide. Meaning it will be a box-office loss maker relying on DVD/BR sales and rentals to make the studio a profit.

We aren't likely to be seeing a sequel. And this movie isn't going to see the mainstreaming of the VG adaptation genre. It's a pity really because this movie was given the budgetary, directorial, and acting talent to give it a good shot at being a mainstream success. But I guess they still fell down on the screenplay front, and without good material to work with the director and actors have a hard battle on their hands.

If they can make a good movie series out of a themepark ride (Pirates) they can surely make a good movie out of a video game.

It made 30 million for the weekend. Sex and the City 2 made 32 million. Shrek 4 took #1 with 43 million.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

just watched the movie, and it's not bad, and not great, but worth the money.
it has little bit of "Lord of the Rings", "Indiana Jones", "Mummy", "Pirates of Caribbean", and a lot of
"Assassin's Creed".
Seriously, there were scenes from this film that is a copy of Assassin's Creed game. (Hawk's eye view and all)
Entertaining! Go watch it!

I just got back from seeing the new Prince of Persia flick, and it was pretty darn good summer movie.  Did it break any new ground in summer movie flick…nope, except for one important category…it’s the best gaming source material film.  That’s not much of a compliment, given that most of the films in the genre are Uwe Boll’s drivel, but the film was highly entertaining, and Jake G was pretty darn awesome as Dustan.  The princess was a lot of hotness as well, with her naturally picky lips, but overall, the film rates a lot of +++, imho.   I movie is probably going to do well at the box office, and maybe even deliver a surprising gross this weekend.  Sex in the City 2 is going to probably take the long weekend, but Prince might collect $50-60 million, and hopefully, get more interest in lagging film projects.  I still remember when Superhero films consisted of terrible Batman Films…then X-men, and Blade to a lesser extent, came along and cracked the code…Prince of Persia just might be the key.  World of Warcraft, Mass Effect, and a whole host of other gaming IP might finally get their big screen treatment…of course, M$ will have missed the boat again by not getting a Halo trilogy done to lead the way…oh well…wouldn’t want to be out of character and actually LEAD into something new…

Not even close... PoP made $30 million... which is really not good considering the budget was 200.

Wow...a $200 million budget...for THAT?!?!?  R u sure...anyway...I thought the film was okay, as a summer action flick, but it was the best video game movie to-date, imho.  Sad to see these totals for the weekend...they are ALOT lower than I expected...I was think in the 45-50 million range, and maybe even a break-out performance in the 50+ range...$30 million is a fail, imho.  This makes me start to get squeezy about the Last Airbender, which is ear the top of the movie's for me this summer...along with Iron Man 2 of course...
