Forums - Nintendo - You loved NSMBWii... So why don't you buy A boy and his Blob?

We all love some little known or poorly sold games and we usually think that's a great injustice. At least that's what happens to me with a bunch of games. A boy and his Blob is not a mainstream title - or so it seems - but god, its such a jewel!

After a long wait I finally got it and I gotta say that is better than I expected.

I usually make stupid decisions when it comes to buying games and once again I made it: I got me NSMBWii, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and A boy and his Blob together. All of them are terrific, charming titles which are hugely fun to play.

I just regret though that sales for A boy and his Blob haven't even reached the 100k copies sold.

This games should be appealing to those who played the original on the NES, who fell in love with Yoshi's Island or who finally understand what 2d platforms were all about with NSMB Wii.

It's a fun clever game disguised in a charming cutie package.  If you like it better, it could also work the other way around.

So, guys, to all of you who ran and bought NSMBWii: I know you are having a hard time with great games coming out all the time. But you should really try to get this. Support quality gaming experiences.

I didn´t like the game..it felt 'monotonous' to me when compared to NSMB.

I'd buy it if it was available here in Japan or if the Wii was region free.

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

i do want the game badly since it released, i loved the original on nes but the problem is i cant find it at E3 or GAME anywhere

I own both, I enjoy both, but I wouldn't say they are comparable. A Boy and His Blob is more of a puzzle game than a platformer in my book, and so those who liked one won't necessarily like the other and vice versa. Though I enjoy and highly recommend both.

I have both and I can't see the relations besides both being a 2D platformer (compleeeeeeeeeeeetely different).

I never played the original but I am enjoying the game now. It was a steal for $16 and is found for less than $20 most places.

They are different genres and I don't like puzzle platforming games. Looks extremely boring anyway in the gameplay vids I saw. I'm yawning just thinking about it.

Those who are saying they are different types of games are right, I don't discuss that.
These games are easily linked in my head for some reason (maybe because they remind of an era were 2d platforming and games were almost synonyms, an era where I became a gamer) and specially because they represent what Yoshi's Island with its aesthetics in the end of the 16-bit generation represented as it proudly stood against the new age 3D "realistic" graphics.
I tied a Bob and His Blob and Mario because I think the first needs a little bit more of atention and Mario could help him out. I also did it because I think that many of those who enjoy 2d Mario can easily enjoy the somewhat different yet quite charming offering of ABahB.

Mostly because I'm still on World 3 in NSMB

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
