Forums - Microsoft - Rumor: EDGE, Natal To Cost $149

I am not sure if renaming Natal would be a good move (haha) because the name has been round for a long time now.

Way overpriced

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

Its been around long as Ultra 64 and Nintendo Revolution lol

IMO natal and move games should be cheaper than the "hardcore" games.
but price seems to be a tad high... its just rumours though =)

The $300 arcade bundle sounds like a terrible deal unless M$ decides to add a hard drive to the Arcade in that bundle. Can Natal even run without a hard drive?

Natal as a standalone sounds way too expensive for $150. At the $100 pricepoint, Wii Fit has sold around 35 million copies, which is about 1 Wii Fit for every 2 Wii consoles on the market.

360 has a 40 million console-base, and I don't think Natal will sell anywhere near the 1 Natal for every 2 Xbox ratio that Wii Fit has. Halo 3 and MW2 haven't even been able to hit that ratio. If 360 can sell 10-15 million Natal units out of their 40 million userbase, then they are doing very well. The Natal bundle should also increase the number of Natal's on the market.

I think the Natal bundle will stimulate 360 sales, but it isn't going to double the 360 lifespan. The inexpensive price of the Wii is going to deter many people from buying the Natal bundle.

I am not sure why software companies are lining up to make games for Natal. They may have a few hits out of this, but they are going to have a much more divided market. Plus, casuals don't buy tons of games.

Natal may have limited success, but I don't it is going to be anywhere near as successful as Wii Fit was.

A little steep, but not too crazy. It allows, allegedly, up to 4 people (2 confirmed) to play with the one device. What is that price equivalent with the other solutions to allow up to 4 people to play with full game functionality?

While at first glance, thats expensive. Although when you factor in that you only need one natal unit for up to four players, it seems more reasonable.

I plan on getting it no matter how much it cost* on day one. I think my family will love it!!!

*cost may vary (limit is probably $250)

That's a good point, but a higher price point still sets a pyschological barrier that's harder to overcome, even though it's roughly the same price as two wiimote/nunchunk/WM+ sets.

I think it can make it at $150, but only if it really delivers on the promise and comes with compelling software.

Perhaps they've chosen a high price point so there's room for more price cutting in the future?

Well... for now... it's just a rumor.
But I don't really think that MS is stupid enough to price it so high. I would be a very bad decision IMO.
Anyway, I won't buy it, even if it only costs 50€ without a game; it just seems like a thing only for casual games to me.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

                                                                             #1                                       #2                                      #3

It won't succeed much at that price. No matter how you look at it, the price is the price. And that price is too high.
