Forums - Gaming - Natal And Move Are Going to Fail

Natal is like a whole new platform

You really belive that crap?  It's a camera!  It would be like saying Move is also a brand new platform when it's really just a glowing dildo.

I don't buy into all this Motion control stuff, I mean the Wii has some good software but Nintnedo always does, because of a few good staff members.  I very much doubt that a WiiHD machine will sell anything like the Wii, because there are millions of people that brought into a fad and will probably never buy another games machine again.  Motion control will probably stay around now, but in no way overtake traditional controllers.

How many people here that own a Wii and PS3/360 really play the Wii more than their other machine?  I bet it's not many.

Anyway if you ask me Natal will continue to be the bugged, laggy piece of crap that it looked like at the GDC ( http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=2&ved=0CBkQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwii.ign.com%2Farticles%2F107%2F1076978p1.html&rct=j&q=natal+sucks%2C+ign&ei=aBb-S4XSFaj00gSizIHlDQ&usg=AFQjCNEvverNfYRQRG1nARWpMSvpu15isQ ), and Move will do about as much for Sony as Home did.

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

I agree both will not sell as well as wiimote, too many people are fighting over move vs natal and which will steal the wii crowd, i don't think either will, it will add a couple of new users sure, but realistically ps move has the better chance as it caters to a much wider audience and does not just rely on casual games

it's the future of handheld

When I say fail, I mean fail to meet fanboys expectations as system sellers and changing the outcome of this gen's console war . Imo I do see Natal possibly moving Wii fit numbers (not so sure about Move) as a stand alone (not budles with 360). But I really don't see either of these new implementations from Sony or M$ as game changers. Though I very well could be proven wrong.

What are your thoughts?

Most likely.

I don't personally think Sony expects a lot out of Move.

They are doing it because they have to show they have the know-how but I don't think Move is really going to be the main driver behind PS3 sales...( and with the success they have had on the Wii I don't think third party are that excited about having to support Move and Natal...)

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Both of them will fail, no sane person will let go of their own strong point (Halo Bungie) and go after another company's strong point (Wii waggle), tat why J Allard left

Its like Michael Jackson dye himself white and start singing country music.

I think the price and software will determine if "Natal" and PSMove will fail or be a success.

As much as I am not a big fan of the 360, I honestly hope at the very least Natal has some sort of success. Reason for this, is because that would push the big console makers to try new things and improve upon what currently exists with different peripherals. As for the Move, I remain skeptical, but I do know I will use it for my third and fourth Heavy Rain playthroughs. The Wii never appealed to me outside of the RE4 experience a few years back, so if RE5 supports Move, that will be loads of fun (If implemented properly, I would like to see KZ3 use it as well).

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Natal will fail, the 360 is clearly on its last legs.
Move will be a huge success and combined with Gran Turismo 5 will see the PS3 overtake the 360 in total sales during December 2010.

I can see them shaving a few figures off of the wii sales, but nothing major.
Personally I think Natal will be a failure as it is just a slightly better eyetoy and with that comes all the problems and genre limits of the eyetoy.
Move may be decent with actual real-time tracking in space instead of gestures BUT the latency has to be <100ms, otherwise the delay will be noticable and will be annoying as hell. For FPS online games, anything higher than 60 you start noticing delays so hopefully they can get the latency down to an acceptable figure.
Plus it may cause a bit of a problem. If games like Killzone 3 are move compatible, then move owners will have a hell of an advantage above players using the pad.

^^ Agreed. Move has a chance since you can play FPS and heavy rain type games with it - If Sony brings out games that utilize move really well then it has a chance. I dont see Natal doing well cause I cant think of what type of game would benefit from it.... Microsoft could suprise me though.

This is not an exit.

If Natal hits at its rumored price point, it is going to need one helluva killer app to get off the ground. It's not an impossible task, given that killer apps have moved expensive peripherals a lot this generation so far, but Natal's got an uphill battle to fight.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

IMO neither PS Move or Kinect offer value for money at all. If you are into motion control the Wii is the system and has a bigger range of games that use Motion control.

Casual gaming belongs on the Wii. These new add-on peripherals to the HD consoles is a cash grab. The games library for both PS Move and Kinect will be very sma
