Forums - Microsoft - Installing games and XBLA games to your USB drive

Has anyone had problems with games stuttering or sometimes pausing? I was playing the demo of Force Unleashed and it happened a few times (when Darth Vader is talking to the character you play as it pasued a few times during that sceene) and also during the intro logo when the icon throws the light saber it paused for about 1 second.

I wanted to know if it was maybe because the read and speed on my 16GB flash isnt as fast or if it was the demo? Also when I played the demo for Viva Pinate: Trouble In Paradise there was terrible frame rate problems at certain points. I was wondering if this is because the demo's I had stored on my USB drive as oppossed to my HDD.

Does anyone know anything about this? I was going to sell my 120 GB HDD if I could just use these 16GB USB drives since they are smaller and I can carry around my games and profiles to other xbox 360 systems.

Prolly your USB drive. See what the read/write speeds are...

I noticed that games load faster of my USB drive than my hard drive...but take longer to install. This tells me my USB has shitty write speed, great read speed/

I still have my original 20gb X360 so the recent USB update was most welcome I've noticed that games install & load much quicker on my 2 USB sticks and have had zero issues with them so far.

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

No. Why?

Well hard drives are faster than USB sticks. But USB sticks load faster than the disc drive.

I've only played Live Arcade games with the memory stick so far. No issues as of yet for me.

Buy that. It will upgrade your Xbox conlsiderably. Play the current game you're playing on the flash drive, and save your downloadable games, music, and multidiscinstalled games on your standard hard-drive.

You don't need to get the 16gb version of that drive, the 8gb is better, and that way you don't need to partition the drive. It'll hold 1 full game, plus DLC and saves for that game. When you change primary games(or just have a game you play often that has some technical issues, like Mass Effect or Fable 2) install that game on the flash drive.

The 8gb Patriot Xporter XT is imo, the best flash drive you can get for anything. It's super fast and very dependable.
