Forums - Gaming - Western developers are ruling Japanese developers this gen!

Hmm, not to be blunt or anything, but it seems to be more of a 360 problem than anything else.
Wii and PS3 have plenty of great Japanese games.

I don't agree. There are only 2 western games that I like (God of War III and Heavy Rain), The rest of the games are all Japanese games. Too bad there aren't as much Japanese games as there used to be in the PS1 and PS2 generations. I think this generation has the least games for me.
I really don't like western games :( Maybe it's the characters' design (those guys with very big muscles and very ugly face) and the way of telling stories... I don't know.

But for me it is Japanese games>>>>>>Western games
And Anime>>>>>>>Cartoons :P

But it's only my taste and my opinion.

Release Final Fantasy Versus XIII nowwwwwwwwww!!! lol :P

I don't think the line is as obvious between japanese and western developers as it once was.

I mean...can you really tell RE5 was done by Japan? How about Dead Rising? I really can't tell as they both play like a lot of western developed games...

That's why I always loved Capcom games :)

Western games these days are amazing (fallout 3!!!). They make massive open worlds. Japanease developers make good games too (Capcom and Nintendo), but they also make A LOT of crap (almost all JRPG, Tecmo/Koei always making the same game, etc). They should try to change for once. They should try to make a anime FPS (I never saw a anime FPS), but not in a Sci Fi medieval world with a emo kid protagonist.

BTW I know alot of American companies make crap too (Activision, EA).

I still have more japanese games than western games but I admit I have bought more western games this gen compared to last gen so they have stepped it up.

They get points for Dead Rising which is awesome... but Resident Evil 5 is a catastrophy.

"Lets take a 5 year old game that was amazing back then but surpassed today and make it 1/2 the length, unplayable in single player, make the story and characters laughable. We will keep the dated controls and add coop. Everyone loves coop!"

Well at least they made one of the (IMO the) best co-op games of all time with this tactic !

Awesome move.

I don't think there are that many Western games coming out this gen... I mean there's RDR now, and we recently got Red Steel 2, but there are FAR more Japanese games coming out, all the time.
