Forums - Sony - New PSN XMB coming soon!?

Please make a new XMB. I can't believe how difficult it is to find things like how much memory I have left and where accesory setting are. I hope they have setting split up better.

Speaking of that... where do you see that option? I've had my PS3 for two years and still don't have a clue where to find this!!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I love the xmb, but replying to messages is hell. I always press triangle on the person's avatar and then x to bring up the message list, but when I'm in MW2 the invite message takes place at the top of that list. So instead of opening their message list, I keep going into an invite message.

It's so slow, going in and out of messages to read them. They tried to make it better with the chat menu, but that's pretty tedious too. You can quick-access it, but if someone else sends you a message it takes an age to get all the way out, check the message, and then go back into the chat.

Don't change the xmb, but do improve some of it's major flaws. And a mini in-game xmb would also be cool for faster loading.

i like the ps3's XMB. i find the 360's dashboard a little too cluttard. But with that being said though i can see why sony might want to change it. The xmb will look really boring to young kids and stuff

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Don't hold your breath, but if they did it would be a stupid idea... if it ain't broke...

But it is rather broke.  Super slow, confusing for noobs, content could be organized better.  I'd love to see a vastly refined and faster loading XMB!

Agree with that.

I like XMB as it is  for most things.  I use my PS3 to access a NAS on my network that has all my pictures/music/videos.  I like the idea of all my content centrally located and configured with RAID 1 fault tolerance in case of drive failure.

XMB tends to suck when you have 7500+ songs (all extremly accurately tagged and organized) but scrolling down artists for 10-15 seconds is not a great way to find music quickly.  Pictures arent as bad since everything is in folders and Videos arent too bad because I only have ~30 to deal with.  I dont think XMB was desinged to be library friendly, Id appreciate some work in this area.

Confusing yes!!

I go into Video section and put it in 1080p but my games play in 480p.

Why must it be so confusing??

I like the XMB and I especially like the custom themes I have.

However, what it can really use is a revamp of the in-game XMB to make it more responsive. Oh, and custom soundtracks for all games would be great too because some music while playing a multiplayer game would be nice.

*edit* It could also use some general tweaks to make it easier to use. Things like multiple selections for backing up PS1/2/3 saves for example.

Um... seriously?

It looks like you're forcing the PS3 to only display at 1080p instead of also keeping 720p and 1080i selected. Thus, if a game doesn't support 1080p, it will be forced to display in 480p because you're not allowing it to display in 720p or 1080i.

*edit* In fact, a lot of them don't support 1080p. Look at the back of a PS3 game case and it'll give you the "supported HD video output" of that game. Killzone 2, for example, supports 720p and 1080i (you can also force it to 1080p too) while Little Big Planet only does 720p.
