Forums - Microsoft - Does EA prefer Sony?

No, but certainly they made it alot of money, FIFA will sell more on the ps3 and it's a lousy fort regarless

So why does EA support the regionfree games on the PS3 and not on the 360? I doubt that MS wants this because games like Alan Wake, Halo, etc are regionfree as well....

I think it's a definite advantage for Sony to have 'regionfree' games... What's the reason for EA not releasing all of their games 'regionfree' on the 360 as well?

Well PS3 games are required to be region free aren't they? 360 games it's developers choice; I personally don't really see the point in releasing region locked games unless the release dates are vastly different in other regions

I have been looking for an answer to this question but haven't been able to find it ....

Most of you probably don't know this but games are released in different regions. Some are released in PAL (EU, AU), soms in NTSC (US & JAP) and some are so called Region Free. Sometimes I prefer to order the 'Region Free' ones because they are cheaper to buy eventhough it takes longer to receive. (due to international shipping).

Here's my question: Why doesn't EA release 'Region Free' games for the Xbox 360 where it does release them for the PS3?

Is it because there's some agreement on it? (= they are getting paid for it?) Or is there some other reason for it?

Just so you know, a lot of big publisher release 'Region Free' games like Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake, etc, etc..

DVD games are reion locked on all consoles, even on PS2.aLSO THE FACT THAT 360 AND WII are hackable

PS3 isn't hackble so no need for it

as far as the region-free argument. I can only see one reason.

NO Piracy!!!!

the worst nightmare for a publisher to have different release date is to have your game copied in say... England a whole month before the actual copy is supposed to launch.

Because then people will have no choice but to pirate because that's the only way they can play the game earlier.

Um, ALL PS3 games are region free (Most Blu Ray movies are restricted I believe).

This.  It isn't an EA thing.  As for movies, I think Blu-rays have 3 region codes versus something like 8 for DVD's.  Main difference I think was that now Japan and North America have the same region coding.

This. Publishers don't have a choice in the matter.
