Looking at the charts not many PS3 games, mainly shooters reach 1.5-2 mil in EU, so its down to whether or not the 360 version can shift maybe 0.8 or 0.9.

tht is th sad fact this gen, shooters sell so much. bt hopfully ff cn be th game to break tht 1.5 million bracket.

Yeah looking back at the chart Assassins Creed 1 sold over 2 mil in EU. and i think its very possible for FF13 to break that 1.5 mil. the other thing is we're only 10 weeks in, FF13 is the fastest selling Sqaure title in Europe standing at 1.1 mil, it not far to go to get 1.5 mil. the thing is whether it can top 2 mil in EU.

i think its gonna do it man, if you look at previous FF titles, they've had very long life shelf life. FF1-6 getting so many rereleases and remakes and selling well, not to mention FF7 & 8 (and soon to be 9) being the 2 best selling PS titles on the PSN; only losing out to the Call of Duty map packs.

so i would say in 2 maybe 2 1/2, years it will have managed at least another 1 mil on PS3 alone, so combined with the 360, i think that the 2.70 mil is within reach. (maybe even 3 mil PS360 combined).

It definitely could but if you saw my comparisons further up in this thread its not going to be easy, don't get your hopes up that high, you and akiba, the games done really really good sales either way. Lets hope other RPG's can do this well in the future.

If not first it'll be the 2nd best, FF hasn't been this popular in Europe since 1997! or 2001 if it doesn't do better than FFX)

true dat. bt getting extra 400K when sales fall below 10K per week (which cud happen in a few more weeks) tkes time. bt hopefully a few years in th future we will see it go past 2.7 Million. I luv FF, i'm vry happy its doing so well in Europe, lets hope Square focuses on our markt too now, nt just americans.

Yeah i just had a good look at your comparasions and thought i would show a few more, mainly based on the PS3 data because we can see the 360 slowing down and capping at about 0.8-0.9. About the MGS4 comparasion, i think that the difference is MGS4 was bundled with the PS3, but theres no such bundle for FF13 here in Europe. So MGS4 was at a huge advantage in terms of longjevity/legs.

First off FF13 has sold faster than Modern Warfare 1. but i think we're going to see it slow just before it reaches 1.5 mil and slowly decrease. but it is astonishing that a JRPG has sold faster than a FPS in this gen of consoles in the EU.

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Call+of+Duty+4%3A+Modern+Warfare+-+PS3[7607]&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+PS3[7727]&reg3=All&game3=&weeks=90

Next is Resistance Fall of Man which has also sold 2 mil. the problem is that even though FF13 has sold faster than these games, it  probabilty wont have the momentium to continue to 2 mil. looking at the graphs i think that 1.5 mil is definitly within reach. but 2 mil is not a certainty.

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Resistance%3A+Fall+of+Man+-+PS3[1893]&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+PS3[7727]&reg3=All&game3=&weeks=90

Here we have Mass Effect 1 in the US region and sadily it shows what will potentially happen to FF13, after an RPGs inital peak, theres no real momentium.

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=America&game1=Mass+Effect+-+X360[7635]&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+PS3[7727]&reg3=All&game3=&weeks=90

Comparing FF12 to FF13 shows that FF13 could have stronger legs.

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Final+Fantasy+XII+-+PS2[765]&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+PS3[7727]&reg3=All&game3=&weeks=90

Hope that offers a more optimistic view. i mean the next few months will determine whether 1.5 mil is achieveable, which i think it is. but we need about 1.8 - 2 mil to top FF7. sadly the momentium for RPGs FF12 and ME1 show that there are no legs for RPGs after their inital peak. but we can see that Assassin's Creed 1 & 2, games which arnt shooters have done extremely well on the PS3. All we can say at this point is 1.5 mil isnt far and we can judge the momentium a lot clearly during the next few months.

we can see that popular games, like Call of Duty, Resistance, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Assassin's Creed have have a strong forward momentium. so its too early to get our hopes up, but the price hasnt been cut to £20 yet so theres still some room for a surge later on in the year or next year.

@akibafan, the numbers you said would work and i would be pleased to see that, but at the moment it seems the foward momentium for RPGs is not as strong as other popular games. but who knows, we could be supprised.

Wow thats some amazing analysis.

Like you said we should see how the next few months go to see what is in store for the title. I think 1.5 Million should be achievable for PS3 though.

Also remember that platinum versions of the game will increase sales later on in its life & sales during the holiday months will see the game elevated again so the game has those things going for it.

Also Versus XIII's release might see FFXIII & Versus XIII game combo's being advertised/promoted (this happened with FFX/FFX-2) so thats another potential increase in sales.

But yeah the forward momentum for RPG's is pretty weak, exception Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion...but thats an exception because it released in each consoles infancy....so the game sold as the console sold back then (just like resistance 1)....thats why games released earlier have more forward momentum.

@A203D

wht r u trying to say?

@Akibafan. i was cut off from my ISP. but i was trying to say that: we could probabily track the EU sales for the PS3 every 2 weeks, until we hit 1.5 mil. with the 360 sales as they are now, when FF13 reaches 1.5 mil on PS3 in the EU it will have met FF10 in this region.

the reason i want to focus on the PS3 sales is because when we reach 1.5 mil we can take the sales from the 360 and combine them to see how close FF13 is to 2.7mil. so we could be pleasantly supprised.

i'm not sure anyones that interested though because we could be in for a very long wait. but if they are:
