great, now port your games to 360 and stop making consoles.

No, can you imagine a market with just MS and Nintendo??

Verses XIII is probably no longer exclusive, but it's not because we messed up by not paying the developer off, it's because everything is changing magically around us, and we can't be expected to keep up with these amazingly trying times when developers actually want some incentive for keeping a game exclusive to our console, and we're just not willing to shell out more losses for the sake of the few hundred thousand hardcore Playstation fans who actually care this game was almost exclusive in the first place.

I never thought about that, it could be damage control.

Im still saying VF13 will be a late port to 360.

I thought that too, until this thread. Now I believe the game will launch multiplatform.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Really? So what about:

Gears trilogy, including 3 which was just announced?
Mass Effect trilogy, including 2 which just came out?
Splinter Cell Conviction, which just came out?
Dragon Quest X, which is eventually coming?
Monster Hunter 3?

Monster Hunter Frontier Online?
Tales of Graces?
Samurai Warriors 3?

There's probably a lot more but I can't be bothered to name them all.

The Wii is immune to that, since you have to build a different game altogether, new graphics and controls (well, mostly immune anyway... there are a few exceptions like No More Heroes, Call Of Duty and Sonic 4). So you can take it's games out of that list.

The others - minus gears, since it's almost a first party game this gen - I strongly believe will find home on the PS3. There's always the "risk", that's what he's saying. Nothing is truly exclusive anymore.

There are a lot of exceptions to that list

Basara 3, EA Sports Active 2, all the plenty of PS3/Wii/360 games, etc.

List is still good because the point of the list is to prove that there are still exclusive 3rd party games.

Of course there are, but they are exceptions to the rule. And he's talking about the rule, not about the exceptions.

It's the same thing to say... malaria is a thing of the past, but I bet there are lots of people who still dies from it everyday. But it is a thing of the past.

Your analogy is poor because I just mentioned 11 games that are 3rd party exclusives off the top of my head, and those are big games, your analogy would be better if only one or 2 games could be metioned.

We the customer will lose in the end if this goes forward.

With uniformity dies uniqueness. If everything is the same, why go over the top to try harder? Would Nintendo or Sony be what they are if they did not basically HAVE TO BE on the software side?

This cannot be a good thing in the end. We need more than 1 console. Why have multiple consoles if EVERYTHING is the same on them?

depends of a generation,if PS4 or Wii or 720 sell 100m next gen and other don't sell more than 30m and the winning consoles has the power for hardcore games too unlike this gen then we will have exclusives again

The source implies more than he is saying. Without exclusives, there is no difference between the consoles except for their extras.
My confusion rests in the idea that something like BluRay is more important than the games selection, but according to that recent article on purchase reasons, BluRay is the main deciding factor for ps3 purchase at a measure of 63%.

Looking at this picture logically there are two possible avenues.

A) Sony rep is talking shite
B) Sony exec is right, and we need to reevaluate everything, from vindicating BluRay to re-examining profits. If games are not the scope of the ps3, why do we look at the games section of the financial reports?

Personally, I think he's right... but only in the context of ps3 and 360. The HD twins are so similar that the purchase of either system is well-founded. It's not like back in the day when SNES and Genesis were so fundamentally different, or when N64 and ps1 and dreamcast had almost completely exclusive gaming portfolios. It's obvious that games alone are able to differentiate the consoles. This is why Wii is the big winner this gen. It's different, in every way. A wii purchase is not just for one game. Every game on the wii is either exclusive, or tailored to the system. It is obviously of higher value.

So yes, I agree with him.
