Forums - Sony - [ ! ] Yakuza 4 could make it to the west`!!!

Having campaigned for months for a localised version of Yakuza 3, many fans of the series feared that releasing the game so close to other big PS3 titles - like Final Fantasy XIII - would hurt its sales. Nope!

While Sega won't disclose official sales figures, which is always a shame, the company has provided something even more important for Yakuza fans: word that sales of the game were enough to show Sega that translating the game from its native Japanese was worth it.

A Sega community rep writes on the game's boards, "...while I'm not able to give you any numbers, I can at least still confirm that the initial sales were really positive, and that all of the fans who jumped in to support the franchise in the west did a great job."

Good news for those hoping that Yakuza 4, which is already out in Japan, will follow its predecessor to Western markets.

-----------------------

This is really good news for me and other Yakuza fans here.  If Sega's happy with Yakuza 3's western sales then surely they'll want to bring Yakuza 4 over (and possibly the PSP version too *crosses fingers for both games).

If they do translate Y4, I hope there's the option to choose English dub or Japanese voice w/ subs, because I prefer original voice audio.

At this moment I wouldnt care if they cut out some features as long as the actual game does set on the west.  Yakuza 3 had some features cut out yet there's still a large amount of things you can do in the game.  Althought it would be nicer if Sega were to not cut anything out.

....and I hope they'll have a more interesting box art that could at least attract costumers attention to at least pick it up off the shelf to take a look at it lol

It would be nice if it were uncircumcised this time, but beggars can't be choosers.

LOLL We can be beggers AFTER we get confirmation that its coming to the west, and from then, we'll complain the crap outta Sega to not cut anything off.  We want to keep the tip!

Does Yakuza 4 have a new plot, or will I need to know what happened in 1-3?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

It will be a continuation of the story from 1-3... and is there really a good reason why you haven't played 1-3?! :-|

Well the situation is a little different since Yakuza 4 is already out in Japan for PS3 lol.  But I understand what you mean.  Did Sega ever mention that the VC sequal was going to be on PS3 when they announce a sequal was in the works?
