Forums - Sony - Valve wants PS3 to open like a Mac not closed like a Gamecube.

I swear I thought he said open like a big Mac. It would have made more sense coming from him.

@Kasz what your saying does make sense. However Valve has stated b4 that they find it hard to develop for PS3, so they're still freaking lazy and just working with stuff they have for years. thats cool and all but y front??? if u dont know how to develop for somethng or are to lazy to learn dont blame the product

Once again... I say listen to the interview.

http://5by5.tv/conversation/16

They actually explain the whole thing REALLY well.  The news source is just trolling you.

The whole "it's hard" thing was also likely just trolling you vs the whole statement and interview.  When you just read snippets it makes you look foolish.

Seriously, the only reason valve is even on the 360 is because it's so easy.

They mention why they are pretty much never going to be on the Ipad, DS or anything console like... they don't see it as the future.

I refuse to play a valve game until it is on PS3.

Well he is making a little bit of sense, He says it is a better investment to go for the MAC than the PS3 because like the PC it has been here for 20+ years and isn't going to die out anytime soon, whereas consoles last for what 5 to 6 years.

So it is a better investment to go for the MAC but that doesn't mean they shouldn't go for the PS3 as well, and I think he touches upon that a little, he says their fanbase is interested in the PS3 and although he doesn't say it specifically I think they will be making games for the PS3 down the line.

Don't worry about the Gamecube comment, he wasn't bashing the Gamecube he was simply stating that being a console it has a limited lifespan and wouldn't be as good of an investment as say the MAC or PC.

When he says he wants PS3 to be open like the MAC I think he may be referring to the future of it, there are more opportunities in a platform that is going to live longer than say a console that has a shorter lifespan.

Just my take on what he was saying. I could be wrong so feel free to correct me.

That's like refusing to eat a hot dog until it's been dropped on the floor.

No offense to PS3 or consoles in general, but valve games are built around the community in ways that make them last much longer and make them much better games.

I can kind of see what you mean by this, PS3 has yet to have a game that starts a community and makes the game last longer like Halo did for the 360, but that doesn't excuse Valve for not trying to make one, you should always try, sometimes you fail, but you just get back up and try again.

What does this even mean??

PS3 has to many gatekeeper functions on who can develop and sell products and what kind of functions said products can have.

Basically, it makes sense to port to Apple because they can do things like Steam cloud and give free updates.

Basically valve LOVES modders and actually building relationships with their fans... etc.  They're all about bringing people in, getting ideas from their fans and collborating with them to make things better.

True they can't do that on 360 either... however it takes no effort to port to 360.  It does make a lot of sense.

Seriously... LISTEN to the interview and you'll understand.

You may actually learn something, it's a very telling and good interview about game development.

Building a relationship with their fans?  Is that why they pissed off quite a few by pratically releasing the promised DLC for L4D as L4D2?  And you yourself just stated that they port on 360 because it takes little to no effort.  Doesn't that pretty much enforce what people are saying about them, that they are lazy developers?

I don't think Valve is going to get a pass anytime soon from PS3 supporters.  Instead of just saying they prefer the 360 and continuing to work on it, they feel the need to demean the PS3.  And this new excuse is pretty lame, as well.  It's pretty much giving an answer without giving an answer.

I can see what you mean aswell but like I said I think Valve still believes this and until they believe otherwise we won't see a Valve game on the PS3, But I think that the day they realise this is coming soon *points to LBP 2*
