It would be a bad case if there was only one. The market need contenders so price can drops. The only that sucks is all those exlusive movies.

Hd has dropped prices because of bad sales vs blu ray (disc wise)
PS3 would still be $399
Although stand alone bd players would probably be much higher.
I think about 1%of the population cares about HD formats, DVD's look incredible and look better when upscaled. Blu Ray is the new Laserdisk.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

the new numbers are 51% BR 49% HD again. YTD back to 65% BR 35% HD.

People with SDTVs do not care about HD content. Once more people own HDTVs, there will be more demand for HD content. As it stands, HD movie formats are nothing beyond a niche product. If they gain major mainstream appeal depends on HDTV adoption rates.
While I have no intentions of owning any HD discs, to see the difference between upscaled DVD and Blu-ray, simply watch Planet Earth. Very noticeable differances on a HDTV.
