So I saw this for sale for the PS2 for$27 used. I have never played the Persona games and I want to hear from you all that have if this game is worth the price. IF it is I will pick it up this friday. Also, I assume it is a traditional JRPG style game?

lol i played 3 and there pretty similar. I gotta say that 3 was awesome and i expect the same from 4 since im gonna get it soon. Also the game has alot of content so 27 dollars is worth it.

Oh, yeah, the SMT games are full-out japanese, I'm talking the names, the music, everything.

The battle system in P3 is worse than P4 (considering you can only set the general outline of what you want the other people to do). I'm not sure about story.

I'd just start with P3FES.

Get it, it's a good game. I have yet to get far in it, though. :-/

The game is essentially a sim mixed with a RPG, the battle system is somewhat normal turn-based stuff, except you fight through your personas, and you can switch and customize those.

It's a turned based JRPG... if you like turnbased JRPGs... you'll probably like it.

The Shin Megami Tensei Series is often considered the best by a lot of core JRPG fans.

That is people who like JRPGs much more then other genres.

I've yet to play it, but I like the other Persona and Shin Megami games i've played.  Good oldschool stuff... good alternative "job" like system in the Personas...

It's worth the price... I prefer Persona 3:FES to, Persona 4... but the majority like 4 better so yeah.
They're worth the price... if you like Japanesey things as characters call eachother, chan, senpai etc. and takes place in japan.
If you don't like that kinda thing, then obviously, dont get it.

Thanks for the info and your opinions of it. Looks like yet another JRPG for me. Although, I will not get to play it much until after I buy SMG 2 since it comes out Sunday.

I actually just started playing P4 yesterday! I found it on "clearance" at a Toy's R US for only 4,980 yen, so I picked it up.(it was a little bit cheaper than Amazon JP's price) I've only played like an hour though, so I can't really comment on how good it is at the moment.

I'm still playing through Persona 3 Portable though at the moment. (currently about 33hrs in or so) and I'm really enjoying the game thus far. I would definitely recommend getting P3:FES (or if you have a PSP and don't mind waiting for the release, P3P).
