Forums - Sales Discussion - why is the 360 so bad in japan?

really its had the most jrpg's this gen with good reviews by the japanese reviewers and all sorts of robot games and games like katamari and ace combat etc. looking at the famitsu scores the 360 has a lot more high rated games than the ps3 yet the ps3 sells 60k and the 360 6k. is it patriotism or what? i mean even the ps3 gets decent sales in america with hardly any praised exclusive games.

I dunno.. maybe its because of the RROD.

combination of patriotism/japanese stubborness and sony playstation brand being well known there.

Mostly japan just dont like certain things for some apparent reason.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Because the Japanese have the weirdest tastes in games, they would rather play crappy golf or soccer games than Halo, Bioshock, etc...

One because Micrsoft is an American developer, not to mention them being Microsoft. So a first of bias. Secondly the Xbox, there was obvious neglect to that area from them, and they just didn't accept it. So becuase MS could never get a brandname in there, everyone after will suffer from it, unless that changes, which has yet to happen even in spite of MS's numerous tries.

"Project Midway" had something to do with it.

I thought about this for a while and I know exactly why. The Japanese culture is very brand finicky/elitist. Everyone, even if they cant afford it, has to wear expensive brand name clothing, have expensive cars, and technology. Its a pride/show off thing. They easily spend mega bucks on gucci purses, armani suits, etc. So when it comes to consoles, brand name is Sony and Nintendo. There much more brand elitist than any other culture except maybe the Koreans.

Did you deduce this while watching reruns of Speed Racer?

Im actually Korean (born in America) so I have an idea of the mentality. And I go to University of Houston, which is second most multicultural school in the nation behind NYU so I see alot of cultures. Asians (especially international) are incredibly brand loyal and high maintenance.
