Forums - Gaming - Why you should buy new games

1) So do used and even piracy if you've got a printer. The Manual is a nice extra, or at least it should be. It's sad just how the manual has declined from what it used to be.

2) used game sales (and even piracy) support higher console sales. the ability to get cheaper games makes a console a lot more attractive to a lot of people

3) do you really want a movie? I'm not gonna argue this point, I'm just saying, movie? Really?

4) I'm being quite real. used game sales give money to the people who buy games, who then buy more games. Stop always looking at the used game rack and start looking at the new game rack to see just how many people are using their revenue from used games to buy new ones. Every one of those used games is fresh game buying ammo for the game buying public.

5) That's a pretty damn good reason to buy those games. Affordable is generally a good reason to get something, hence used game sales.

6) if people bought new on release dates, reason 5 would go out the window.

1) Most I have seen look dirty

2) Not if they buy a used console

3) Yes movies are cool (EXCEPT RE), looking forward to Prince of Persia

4) Not really, some trade in to get another used copy. I used to do that all the time lol.

5) Yup

6) Yeah that was a bad one

Its better to buy new games for the companies you wish to support that way when you dont like a company, but want to play their game you buy used.
My list includes Activision, Valve and Nintendo.
Also $60 a pop is to much for a short game. so why buy it an outragous price, or do people like to let corporations screw them for their money?

Screw that, new games are way too much money for a jobless person like me. The ONLY new games I have bought/ am buying this year at full price are: Monster Hunter 3, Mario Galaxy 2, and Dead Rising 2. Most other games, like Red Steel 2, Fragile, FFXIII, I am just standing by waiting for the prices to come down to $30 or less. So I guess you can say I usually DO buy new, I just wait for the price to go down.

you are a maverick. good point and i agree on all. thats why this gen i stopped buying used.

1) You get a pretty new box.

2) Supporting your console(s) of choice

3) Good sales lead to add ons, more games in the series, maybe a movie.

4) Brings more money to the industry, lets be real used games are a profit for gamestop not the devs.

5) some of them are pretty cheap, I just bought MGS4 brand new for $20.00 (GT5 prolouge was 29.99)

6) If people bought new on release dates instead of waiting for used copies it would make the numbers far more interesting.

thoughts?

1) Also get in used.

2) Also get in used - indirectly.

3) Arguable to happen or not happen either way.

4) Gamestop = ripoff. Ebay = good deal and money goes back into pockets of gamers who buy more games which still helps industry.

5) I do this as well.

6) *waiting* same thing if you do #5. So no difference for used or new really.

The real arguement should be why people buy used from gamestop. Such a freakin rip off. Ebay is far better for both the reseller and buyer.

Never bought a used game (or movie) in my life and I never will.
You only get real quality with new games. Plus there are so many fantastic deals out there that used game prices look like rip-offs

if I can save $20 by buying used, I will. thats not the case for all used games. I find some used games are only $5 cheaper than the new one. if there is a big difference, than yeah buy used and save your money for something better.

I don't buy a lot of used games because I bought one that smelled of cigarettes. I'm not a smoker and opening that up and having that very strong smell was gross. I don't smell my used games before buying them (haha could you imagine?) but I always prefer new to avoid that grossness.

Well I used to buy games brand new on day 1 of release. But after a few disappointments technically like Bayonetta which I payed 55 euros for theres only a few games I'll buy now on day 1 and there games I'm really hyped for and know are good quality.

From Bayonnetta onwards I've found myself searching the pre owned sections for cheaper versions of games I'm about to buy because if I had of waited another 3 weeks to buy Bayonetta I would have saved 20 euros and the patch to fix the game slightly would have been out. At the end of the day it was me down 55 euros on a broken game and not the developer who put out that inferior piece of shit in the first place.

If developers don't want people buying pre owneds they why put out games they know are only average
