Forums - Gaming - Guns don't kill people, violent games do

http://www.alexevansgames.blogspot.com

It's the age-old debate - do violent games cause violent kids? Can GTA and COD ever be right to portray such gruesome violence, when the developers know full well that kids are going to get their hands on it?

Here's my stance:

"Games are not real. Regardless of what Jack Thompson (that guy who hates GTA), Barack Obama or the BBFC (those stiffs who slap 18 symbols on our games here in the UK, along with PEGI) might have told you, the guy you just ran over on Liberty City’s grimy ‘street’ isn’t real. He didn’t have thoughts, feelings or a family to go home to. In fact, he’s the same guy who was in the gun shop a minute ago – and I swear he just came back from the dead and is now walking around the park without a care. In short, he was a just a bunch of polygons, duplicated ad nauseam. It doesn’t matter that you just checked your tyre pressure on his legs."

It's true. I just beat a guy to death with a copy of Dead Space. Worked like a charm.

My son is 6 years old and as a parent it is my choice and right to decide what he can play as a GAME not the Gov! My son has seen me play GOW3 does that make him violent no. He know right form wrong. His know the different between a game and real life. Games are not training tools to make killers. Its the parents that make sure how to raise there kids right.

i grew up playing violent games, and i only killed a person or six so the effects are way too exaggerated by the media.

I don't think video games make kids psychos, but I think that the lack of human mentorship and the substitution of it through video games leave kids to flounder alone towards maturity.

guns kill people, games make kids violent and misspelling is caused by pens and keyboards

Now the world is weird  and people take Prozac  to make it normal.

“If any creator has not played Mario, then they’re probably not a good creator. That’s something I can say with 100 percent confidence. Mario is, for game creators, the development bible.

Violent Games don't kill people. Retarded kids that play them and then mimic it do.

People have been killed BEFORE video games were around (I know, scary)

imo, I think violent games decrease the urge to go on a killing spree.
