Sad day for fanboys, great day for gamers.

Interesting comment, looking over at what game systems you have under your user name there.  No 360 console among your list.  So, did you also think Final Fantasy XIII going on the 360 was a great day for gamers to?

I don't have a 360, and I share his sentiment.  Is my comment therefore "interesting" as well, or do the two of you just have a history of which I am not aware?

Great but it's still exclusive.

 Careful.  You don't want to get banned over such a trivial issue.

what is the benefit of releasing it on PC if they release it with such worthless software like GfwL? That software is buggy and bloated. Do not want, ever. And it will fail on PC because there isnt very many games that has ever been successful when attached to GfwL.

 Fallout 3 proves it's not a fatal inclusion, but you're general sentiment is widely shared.  Personally, I mod out Games for Windows Live when possible.

I like Dawn of War 2 perfectly fine. Though the GFWL aspect is absolue and utter trash and I really wish they had done somehing else for net play. Hell, even gamespy would have been better.

It's sad that it has come to the point where I think gamespy as a "pretty good" multiplayer provider. They have sucked hard ever since Bnet and Westwood Online came around. I also liked Heat.net a ton more until those bastards bought it out.

gamespy really cant even be called a service. I have maybe 4 games using their service downloaded through Steam. Just dont use their pos chat software and register a login you can remember your good.

Boarderlands=fucking nightmare

not really, for me anyways. Ive had a gamespy account since its connected to IGN. Only issue I've had is lag when online.

@mirgro - I love UT3.. I reviewed it for this site remember. PC version had the highest score out of the three versions with an 8.9.

My opinion, Microsoft is scared of Steam's supreme service over XBL/GFWL, so they're going to release Fable III on PC to promote the mediocre GFWL.

This.

GFWL is a buggy, bloaded p.o.s. that hardly anyone in the PC community likes.

GFWL maybe, but Steam is no where near supreme over XBL.  That's just Shio's typical console tr***ing mode.

You know, I'm perplexed why Microsoft would go back to porting their first-party Xbox 360 games to the PC. But perhaps Steam's recent Mac support has something to do with it. All steam games are now compatible on Macs right? That presents a threat to Microsoft. Because let's face it, if you are really into PC gaming, you needed Windows. But now that Steam has Mac support, that may very well change.

@underlined/bold:  No, all Steam games are not compatible with Macs.  Only a few are right now.  The Steam service for Mac is brand new and it would take developers lots of wasted time to port games over to such a small userbase as Mac gamers.  Anyone who games on a Mac uses Windows

I just bought Fable I and II. Both Platinum Hit editions for a total of 30 bones. Are they any good? A friend of mine says that they are decent.

I think they are very good.

Fable in particular will probably feel quite dated now.  But Fable 2 is excellent.

It's still the highest selling WRPG on any single platform all generation.  For RPG's in general, it's passed (saleswise) by FFXIII on PS3 though.

Even with Steam getting Mac support though, gamers who want to play the more demanding computer games are going to want to a PC though. A PC gaming rig is not only more effective performance wise but much cheaper to build than buying a Mac. So I'm not quite sure how much of a threat Mac support for Steam really is to Windows. There is a world of difference between a stereotypical PC gaming snob with a gaming rig and a Macbook user.

Good news for people who like Fable yet don't own an xbox. After Fable II though, I'll probably be sitting this game out. Maybe this time Molyneux and Co. will make something that's as good as they hype it up to be.

I'd say great news. But Fable 1 was very boring. As for Fable 2, even when it was exclusive, was also very weak.

Nothing worthwhile has come out of Mlyneux for over a decade, I wish he'd just stfu, crawl in a hole and disappear already.

I wish you would too.

Except that in my short stay here and from the few posts he has made his are probably 10 times the quality of yours on average. This exchange is another perfectly good example of that. Molyneux hasn't done anything great since Dungeon Keeper, and I think that was 97 or 98, which is over a decaded now. Your repsonse to it however was nothing short of IQ-reducing idiocy. Unless you are 5 years old, then I am sorry for the offense since then you are just acting your natural age.

Oh my God, there's more of them. What attracts console hating PC fanboys to a console hardware and software sales tracking site I'll never know.

I take everything I said back, you do indeed seem to be 5, and I wonder how you are even able to read. Look at the title bar of this in your browser and tell me what comes up. In fact even the iPhone is up there.

@Garnett

My PC was $1k 2 or 3 years ago and it's far more powerfu than either of the consoles and it runs games that look far better. The components currently cost around $400 tops. Oh yeah, it also has a Blu-Ray burner before you start with that whole thing.
