flash runs like shit on chrome for some odd reason, that's why I'm sticking to Firefox for now. It's also a big resource hog even in windows with hardware acceleration, they need to revisit their code.

Agreed, Apple is the most closed standards out of anyone.
Remmber Flash is only one option for developers. Java is still available.

Mmmmmh OP, change your Ipay for a device that supports today's standards ^^

Your blind-eye towards the fact Apple wants nothing more then a completely closed platform. Which is what they have with all their products. Why else do you not see Apple PCs being sold at Walmart, Best Buy, etc. More people would then want more control over their product pricing and hardware.

Full HTML5 still isnt supported by some browsers and isn't quite ready for the big time yet in some forms. However, with that said, VGC 3.0 will be faster and with less Flash (I actually don't see ANY flash at all right now on the new designs)

I'm really wondering why Flash is bringing the site down. I've made much more heavy-Flash sites, and they run faster. I think it's the ads that bring down the site.
My themeforest portfolio:
but HTML5 is not anywhere near final spec, browser support is still patchy and it's not even faster than flash all of the time. wouldn't tried and true methods of web interactivity be better?

The Flash widgets that are currently on the homepage will be gone in VGC 3.0 so hopefully there will be less strain on people's CPUs! :)
