That would dramatically drop manufacturing costs not counting other parts that would go down in cost to manufacture as well. I think that we'll see at least a $50 price drop on the 40gb before the end of June. |
You have to be kidding me, you can't implant a change in component production with a snap of a finger, it takes time to adjust the production facilities. Besides, the information you give about 45nm cell chips, these won't be produce-able until late 2008, it just doesn't go that fast, especially that the first 45nm cpu is coming out sometime in January. Next off you would have to give Sony time to sell off all of those ps3 that they produced with old components, which may take a few months even after those 45 nm ps3s start being made, there's just no way for a price drop to even happen, even with to this processor technology change. I mean what kind of economical sense would it be to sell ps3s' that costed you 600$ to produce for a price that fits a ps3 produced for let's say 400$?? That's asking yourself for major loss.
