Forums - Sony - Sony is not happy with PSP sales

I do think they should just drop the go.
Its a great system, but doesn't add much other than a smaller form and it is wayyyy overpriced.

I would say they should just lower the price but I think they should have just 1 portable out at a time, and that portable will most definitely launch alongside the 3DS, it will be the PSP2.

and it needs to have so much that isnt there now.
it needs a touch screen
3G/4G connectivity with a service plan
a slide open system which has dual analogues
and everything an iphone has including a huge hard drive, camera's, skype.

a portable game system has to have everything the competition does, (unless your nintendo)

We are talking about a videogame console, not an iphone. If you want all of that, you buy an iphone. If you want a videogame system... well, you look for a videogame system. That's what Nintendo taught us this gen. I can't believe people don't see it still.

If sony wants the psp2 to be more successful than the psp, they should focus on the games part, instead of the Extras part

The PSP is a great platform, very underrated, and it gets pretty good gems every now and then, it's just we ignore it because we care more for our WII/PS3/360 than we do with our handheld..

They just need to make the PSP the center of attention for gamers, and its advertising, games, and price cut that need to combine for that..

because to me it feels like its like 80% of there support is ps3 and the rest is PSP.

They NEED to cut the price of the PSP..

if not its really screwed..

Cut price so they can make no margins on hardware and then fail to make it up with their anemic software sales?

Not that I have any better ideas. Sony seems to be caught between a rock and a hard place in the handheld space.

The PSP2 will have a very hard life unless Sony puts a lot of their weight behind it. No longer will they get the free assumption of success merely because it shares the name Playstation with the home console which tops the league as the most sales of all time. Unless they have a comparable interface its quite probable that the 3DS will get the majority of launch support at the expense of the PSP2 due to game interface incompatibility.

Whether it's a success or a failure, the world NEEDS a PSP-like option. Nintendo is the king of the handheld world and has been for decades but I happen to like Sony's more mature platform a little more. Hopefully there will be another PSP in the future. I can't think of what Sony could do better, though. Good games, powerful hardware, decent pricing, and lots of functionality.

Sometimes things go wrong, even when you do everything right.

a little? moar like crying their heart out with the sales.

This ten year non-sense doesn't mean a new system isn't coming soon.

         Japan / West

PS1 - Fall 1994/ Fall 1995

PS2 - Spring 2000 / Fall 2000

PS3 - Nov 2006 (NA + Ja) / March 2007

They release a system every six years or so on average - we're due for a PSP2.

this is not logical, they were on top during the ps/ps2 era you know -.-

The PSP beat the 360 this week in hardware...so thats a good sign! If they do make a PSP2 it needs to like the PSPGO with PSP games compatible. It just needs to be an epic piece of hardware with some deeeeep software. And of course a great price!
