Forums - Gaming - God of War III vs Uncharted 2 vs Alan Wake Graphics Comparison. WHY ?

What is the point in comparing these games which have 3 different art styles and saying one is better than the other ? During my ban period I saw many threads which inevitably erupted into flame wars about what game looks superior and add in the fact that they are exclusives, it gets worse.

God of War III has a fantasy setting with all sorts of mythological beasts, vistas and gigantic scale. Uncharted 2 is more realistic and features beautiful environments, while Alan Wake is more dark and gritty and has fantastic lighting (who cares if its sub-HD). Hell even KZ2 looks amazing.

The point I'm trying to say is that, due to preference of setting and art style, you may prefer a certain game graphically to another. But does that mean that the other game is inferior ?

I like GoW III the most because I like the art style more than the other games and it is undoubtedly a great technical achievement. I have said that God of War III looks better many times (that may be because I'm "slightly" biased towards it, but all this unnecessary b#**$!t comparisons have brought about change).

That doesn't necessarily mean Uncharted 2 or Alan Wake is inferior to GoW III. They just look different and have different styles.

Deal with it people. All 3 games look amazing, and if you deny that, then only something is very wrong with you. So please no more "ZOMFG this game looks far better than that game" threads... Especially since graphical juggernauts such as Halo Reach, GT5, Gears 3 (They will most probably show gameplay at E3) and the rumored KZ3 are about to be released withing the next year...(well, except maybe KZ3).

First - "vg$ -358,880.1" = lol

Second - Welcome back!

Third - They are (or were) touted as the big graphical powerhouses. That is why.

And people like to compare epeen.

Don't forget the Cryengine (and later idtech stuff).

Yeah...no more predictions league for me :(

They ARE graphical powerhouses... Comparing Forza 3 with GT5 is something that is justified because its the almost the exact same art style...

Yes, but I have noticed that multiplatform games become irrelevant in these comparisons

Not if they are Bayonetta of FFxIII :).

lol halo has good graphics but it aint a graphical juggernaut.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

Uncharted and God of War pass a compression roller over Alan Wake even with it's dynamic shadows. Honestly, 540p...

Yes, but that was comparing the PS3 and 360 versions of the games..there is nothing wrong with that when clearly one version is better than the other.

What I don't get is comparing completely different games with each other.

Don't even know why people put Alan Wake in the same sentence as the other too, it's miles away.
