Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo’s No-Transfer Policy Could Burn Wii’s Biggest Fans

This is one of the reasons I don't buy Wiiware.  Another reason is the point system itself.  I have a 500 point card that I got free with Monster Hunter Tri, but I might not even use it since I'd have to pay more to get anything good.

This is exactly what happened to me. Was at the Best Buy UK launch. They were selling the black wiis for £99 with Wii sports resort. Was considering getting 1 or 2. But decided against it cause of this no transfer issue.

Anything good? Are you kidding? There are tons of great classic games @500pts.

Plus, there is no way Nintendo won't have a way to transfer VC/WW games to a newer console. It will probably be setup so you must create a Nintendo Club account, which proves the titles you own, and then when you register the newer machine you'll be able to transfer ownership from Wii to WiiHD/2.
