Even if Sony announces a PSP-2 at E3, the biggest surprise will still be our first look at the Nintendo 3DS.

Why would the biggest surprise of E3, be something we will have known about for months?

I'm curious.

Because we haven't seen it yet. When we finally get the revelation of the thing we are eager to see but can not yet comprehend, it will probably have much more in the way of surprises than the thing that... well... a second PSP.

Ok so you cannot comprehend the next DS but you can comprehend the next PSP?

I think we can no more comprehend the next DS than we could comprehend the first DS. Remember how we couldn't comprehend the first DS at all? Even when Nintendo announced it and showed it off, they left out the touch screen part, and we were left completely uncomprehending. As for the next PSP... unless they take the Move approach of shamelessly copying the DS... is there really anything they can do that would elicit much excitement?

I don't understand where your getting at tbh, the first psp was also full of surprises, games like FF:CC or GOW really showed the power of the device, I think games like Tekken:DR showed it can even surpass it's console counterpart...heck you can run skype etc on it as well, not trying to put down DS here (I have one and love it) BUT doesn't mean psp is any less capable of a hardware, they both have their strengths and weakneses. I'm sure the next one will be a nice powerful little handheld as well and will include many features as the current one as well...

I think the problem with your statement is using 'we' instead of 'I'...cuz I ASSURE you many will be VERY eager to see what the next PSP has to offer as there will be many who will do the same for the 3DS

And please stop the whole copy thing now, such comments almost always derail topics, especially as staff be a bit more unbiase and try to avoid such things, just a request

I would greatly welcome a PSP-2 with graphics equal to that of PS2 or better.

what would be a bigger surprise (and be perfect for a PSP2 release) would be software BC for the PS3 for PS2 games on the PSN (downloaded games only).

Just think: Sony can start putting the more popular PS2 games up on the PSN for download and these games will also be able to run on the (dual) analog PSP-2.

If they started this now, they would have a good library of playable PS2 games on the PSP-2 day one (also have it bc with the PSP).

I don't mean to derail with the copy comment, but I find it very much applies. The Wii was like the DS in that it introduced revolutionary new input devices that changed gaming and opened it to a wide new audience. Sony has already shown that they are willing to copy this on the console front. So why shouldn't we be surprised if they show they are willing to copy Nintendo's advances on the portable front as well?

Your saying that there is still room to innovate and bring new features when it comes to Nintendo handheld but not when it comes to Sony handheld? Thats how it sounds you know. Your also talking like Nintendo invent everything, while im pretty sure dual screen was the only feature not available somewhere else.

"unless they take the Move approach of shamelessly copying the DS" Really?! Its a different tech with a similar concept,  dont you think shamelessly copying is a little exagerated?

if the psp2, has dual analog sticks and has its game on sd cards or some disk. then i will buy it, if not will probably not get the system for a good while.

you sound like someone just waiting for the latest "i" product.

Regardless. I gotta agree with carl. It doesn't make much sense. You already know it's going to happen. While a psp 2 wouldn't be the biggest surprise of all time, it's still not something we know is going to happen or not and so if it does, it'll still be a bigger surprise. A surprise would be if nintendo chose NOT to show off the 3ds.

Check out my game about moles ^

I really want to see what Sony wants to do next with the PSP, They have really dropped the ball there. I could care less about the 3DS, i know it's coming and it's going to be successful although i think some us are expecting too much from Nintendo.

PSP2: It's really not clear if Sony want to continue that route, I really think it's going to become a platform like Zune. I think Sony Will bring it to its future phones.
