considering the evidence and how many people are expecting it to be announced I don't see how it could be the biggest "surprise" of E3...

Don't you mean $599?
All joking aside, I don't think they'll be announcing a new PSP at E3. And even if they did, I still think Nintendos 3DS content will upstage it.

I wouldn't underestimate a PSP2, because this time Sony has learned the lesson from Nintendo with the DS and their own errors.
Here's the listen of given stuff featured in the next PSP:
- 2 analog sticks
- Touchscreen
- iPhonish tilt motion control
- Built in mic and camera
- Built in memory for downloadable content (various models featuring various ammount of memory)
Now the stuff that probably could be there:
- No-glasses 3D like the 3DS. Sony is doing R&D on 3D and pushing it on the PS3, they could be doing it aswell for PSP2.
- What's better than a big ass widescreen? Two big ass widescreens. They did PS Move after bashing the Wii didn't they? They could very well pull out a double screen portable console and claim they've been working on that since the Apocalypse. Just thinking about a double widescreen console is giving me an erection.
John Butler advertisement praising double screen and bashing the single screened iPhone would be pathetically trolling priceless.
- Water Resistant, you can play in the shower safely for the first time in history.
I would not be surprised at all.
If Sony wants to still take Nintendo on then they have to release a new system to counter them by Spring 2011 it looks like, so they most likely have something in the works. Though hopefully Sony breaks even on the release so they don't have to hemorrhage money anymore.
It's just that simple.
I would more expect a huge PSP pricecut and/or PSP 4000.
But then again... I aint been right on everything. And they WILL want to get a head start on Ninty.

I just hope Sony have learned and have it selling at a reasonable competitive price while breaking even or even profiting form day one.
