Forums - Sony - Awesome New GT5 Screens and Info

I look and saw AA  on in every one of those screen shots. The 8th pic doesn't seem to be in as high resolution as the other 7. In those 7 I can see some black and white edges with some grey mixed in so AA is on. Of course a  higher resolution pic will reveal more than a lower resolution pic including jagged edges. In pic 7 I see clearly down the road. Even the fence has low jagged edges in the distance. Best AA I've seen in any sim.

As far as trees I rather have 60 fps and nice looking cars than waste too much cpu/gpu on trees.

i think they can do better than this because the trees in photo no.7 looks very bad.

I agree they look bad from a top view (replay) but they will probably work with a little blur effect while actually driving.

Wow...Never been So hyped for a racing game....All these years of waiting BETTER pay off!

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

looks awesome, but still 2D trees.. PD must realize themselves, that they just look strange in such a highly detailed game

the pictures have an unrealistic amount of AA, which is what people often call "bull shot" - no, even with MLAA you wouldn't get edges that clean

Simply Amazing.
Cant imagine how it'll look like at 100% complete.

The 2D trees are a bit disappointing but if that's the sacrifice necessary for the game to run at 60fps and 1080p then so be it. It's not as though the trees are going to have any effect on gameplay and will look nearly as bad in any view other than aerial. Still though, I'd have hoped that Polyphony Digital could at least have made their trees in the form of an asterisk rather than a funny looking X. Would have made them look quite a bit better from aerial view.

It's also worth pointing out that not all tracks will probably feature 2D trees. It's just with the tens of thousands of trees on the Nurburgring track, I understand why Polyphony chose to take the easy and fuctional shortcut rather than detail every tree and have the game come out a year later because of it, all for one track. XD

You may want to say Nordschleife instead of Nordshceife :P

maybe they should remove it and keep the far trees because its will look really bad in the replay.

Now that I look properly at the screens I wonder why Yamauchi is using the same trees model since Gran Turismo 3.

He doesn't have 10 minutes to do a proper tree? Shall I do it and send him by e-mail or...?

Those trees are making my favorite track of all time look non-real.
