Forums - Sales - EA: Mass effect 2 sold 1.6 Million (PC + Xbox 360 sales) - poor PC sales??

This just proves that singleplayer RPGs, no matter how good they are, are a small niche. Final Fantasy XIII will probably be the only RPG to top 4 million on a single platform this gen, and even then only because it has 20 years of brand recognition to lean on and 75% of its sales on one platform.

It sucks.  =(

Piracy + Insane price for a single player RPG game is hurting a great game like this but hey, even if only managed to pull 1 mil. I consider it a success still.

With sales like this EA won't last longer.

Good thing they got Madden, Tiger Woods and Fifa as annual secured income cash cows, otherwise they would be screwed.

Yeah ok ps version most likely sold a lot more than that.

Just curious how many copies did Killzone 2 sell? You guys are using these sales a basis for ME to be ported to PS3 well Guerilla would be stupid in the same sense to not bring Killzone over to the 360. If 360 is a shooterbox as you all say Guerilla would sell double on the 360 then they did on the PS3. Guess what? Neither is going to happen. If you want ME then either get a PC to run it or buy a 360.

I own it on Computer and don't care if it comes on PS3, (well I care if it sells for bioware :D), but the same thing was said about Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear Solid this and last generation respectively. Now, EA is a multiplat company, however Mass Effect is a little more sensitive then the two I mentioned cause of who has the actually IP which I do not know.

Haha, I love that you use the term "computer" instead of PC. Oldschool! ^^

:D I didn't notice I did that. I like building computers, which I can't do for consoles D:.

I do type to fast on here and scramble up words though. D:

Something definitly doesn't compute in those sales:

ok i understand that ME2 doesn't have strong legs since there's a very vocal backslash on it for oversimplification but still first one sold tons more on X360 only (as we have sales for this version) than second one would on X360+PC ?

And how can it have less sales now than few days after launch ? Also guys if you remeber Mirror's Edge it sold below expectasions and hit bargain bins insanly fast and sold for insanly low prices, if ME2 were selling so badly as that 1,6M we would be seiing it for 10 pounds already.

And third how can much more hardcore RPG - Dragon Age outsell it so much ? I belive this number is for US only or maybe for X360 only.

But maybe if it's true then Bioware will return to formula from ME1 with more rpg less shooting.

The legend of Zelda: twilight Princess sold 4.7 million on the wii (it also lost about a million sales to the GC).

As a RPG' lover i would like more sales for the genre. Sad for ME2.

I wouldn't consider any of the 3D Zeldas to be RPGs.

I'm kinda new to this site, what does it mean when someone says ME2 overtracked? And thats a bad thing i take it?
