No matter what, one game or even 3 cant turn a tide around. The original Xbox and game cube had several triple A games each and still only accounted for 20% marketshare combined. The PS3's horrid launch sealed its place in the console war.

Is Metal Gear Solid 4 gonna have a bigger impact on console sales than a $100 price cut with 5-10 free blue ray movies? Hell no! Thats the biggest boost they can only hope for! Metal Gear Solid 4 will only prevent the PS3 from sinking even more, thats the reality

Include PC sales then, they are almost nonexistant. Everyone who wanted to play Halo, had an Xbox. And once again, first week sales mean nothing, only overall sales matter.

Overall, a game that is two months old has sold more than MGS3 that has been out for 3 years. They're the most recent of both series. Which one do you think is bigger?

MGS3 is a prequel, it should be compared to the likes of Halo Wars. Compare MGS4 to Halo 3 when it's released. MGS1+2 outsold Halo 1+2, which one do you think is bigger?

For those who want to buy a PS3 for games, which will be the majority, Bluray movies are irrelevant. And prce drops help but are only temporary if there is nothing to play once you get that damn system.

It doesn't matter if its a prequel, its number 3 in the series. Going by that logic, I should also compare Metal Gear Portable Ops to Halo Wars. Halo 3 is the third installment of the series as well, and has sold more than Metal Gear Solid 3 in less than 2 months. Also, Halo Wars will not be the fourth installment of the Halo series, so why compare it to MGS4?

And Halo 1+2 has sold more than MGS1+2.

And if it hadn't, Halo is a bigger fracnhise at the moment, hence me saying MGS isn't as big as it used to be.

Halo Wars is a completely different spin off of a whole different genre. Metal Gear Solid 3 is a prequel with the same lead character and same gameplay. Halo Wars more is comparable to Command and Conquer or Starcraft rather than any of the other Halo games in the series
