Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy - What Went RIGHT?!! (A thread to UNITE all FF Fans)!

While admittedly, I don't love every single entry to the series, I do love some. Such as Final Fantasy IV (best one), Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XIII (best characters, combat system and music in the series IMO). Final Fantasy IX was a very charming game as well (though I don't love the soundtrack as much as others do). I'm really looking forward to Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Pretty much the fact that it's the only series that can reinvent itself over and over again with overly positive results.

The series has built a legacy that has become synonim with RPG worldwide, which is nothing short of magnificient, given that the genre itself isn't such an acclaimed one.

The ability for each game to encompass breath-taking stories and create individual universes with tons of untapped potential is also something to behold.

Who can forget Chaos' last Requiem, the fight of the Rose, the will against the Dark, the legends of Mysidia, the overwhelming Void, the destructive power of Magick, the Planet's strength, the legacy of the Witches, the Crystal's memory, the Spiral of death, the devotion and struggle of a small nation against the titanic empires or the struggle of breaking free from the oppression of a unwilling Fate?

This is what Final Fantasy did and will continue to do right. Giving us, the gamers, stories, characters, gameplay and many other things, that will continue to inspire us and give us a sense of being involved into something epic, something that will have no definitive Finale.

You're kidding me, right? |:

XIII's soundtrack is NOTHING compared to 6-10 (especially the magnificent 7's soundtrack).

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

The graphics continue to set standards, the music is superb, the franchise always takes risks and makes changes. It's consistently the most polised jrpg franchise, and the Final Fantasy brand has an almost legendary status.

Couldn't have put this any better.

And btw, Snow ftw! To all the haters.......cough *Carl* cough...........

cough *pedo* cough

Hey now!!!

We need some context, put her next to Snow... the height difference is quite scary! She comes up to his waist!

I don't like how so many people are insulting the series! I love it still! I agree that it needs some changes, but I love Final Fantasy

1. Final Fantasy X
2. Final Fantasy VI
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Final Fantasy IX
5. Final Fantasy XIII

I love EVERY game in the series. Even the shitty ones that no one liked (X-2 and Dirge). There's just something about the Final Fantasy style.

I'm extremely happy to say that FXIII not only met my expectations, but completely shattered them. The game is easily the best RPG so far this generation.

So what has the series done that makes it so powerful?

Franchises like Tomb Raider & Sonic that were held on the same high level declined heavily in sales over time, what made FF stay so high according to you?

None of those series bring the amount of innovation that Final Fantasy does imo.

Final Fantasy games literally change themselves with almost every new installment. I know for a fact that's what sucked me in. Every game is set in an enitrely new world, with a fresh story, characters and villains. The battle system has also changed in every single game, but the last three games have completely re-done that too. What other series can claim this?

The games ussually tell the classic story of human beings breaking free from the shackles of higher forces. But the way in which they tell this story is abolutley phenomenal. There are also constants: Chocobo's, Cid, Cactuars, etc., Things that will forever be associated with the series.

That is a good reason!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Oh and this scene in FFXIII nearly made me bleed to death

wow a lot of people putting FFIX in their top 5. The game was absolutely phenomenal, and I'm happy to see it's such a fan favorite.

Yet you don't have it in your top 5.

Oh I know, and I love the game. But that should say a think or two about the rest of the series ;)
