Forums - Sony - LBP2 will launch with basic Move controls, get upgrade later

LittleBigPlanet 2 will no doubt be a big influence in helping Sony sell their PlayStation Move controller, so in what ways are you planning on incorporating this into the game?

You may remember from the presentation that we had the Sixaxis Direct Control Seat, which is a ridiculously long title which we will no doubt change. What this does is allow the user to take the guts of the SixthAxis controller and map the buttons in any way they like, and I see no reason why you couldn’t use this function with any other controller, like the Move controller for example.

We’re really excited by giving the Move controller to the community. We’re totally going to go to town on supporting that, but I don’t think we will have the full functionality at launch. There will be a taster, but it is something we are planning to do.

Will you be able to play the game using just the Move and perhaps the Sub Controller?

I think that will have to be the case. We haven’t sat down and scoped that out entirely, but it seems like a bit of a no-brainer really.

A shame it doesn't launch with full on Move controls, but I really hope it will make creating easier! Having a pointer for shaping things could be awesome, and allowing the community to create new motion control schemes will surely produce some fascinating results!

Making life easier for level creators is VERY beneficial here.  Move would fit into this to, and definitely welcomed.  Move is more needed for level design than actually playing.  BUT, if you can use Move to make play more fun, that is great.

OMG SONY!!!! LBP2 will be the BEST GAME to launch the PS Move....
awwww.... this sucks =(

Wow, that's pretty awesome! Time will tell if I'll be bothered to plug in a mouse for it, or if the Move will get the job done.

Yeah, having K/M support makes me way more likely to get into more ambitious territory in the level creator.  LBP2 sounds like a game creator that just completely dwarfs the original.

Move support for creating objects would be incredible.  Imagine drawing materials like in the first game, but instead of using an analog stick to move the poppit, you can shape things in 3D with your hands using 2 motion controllers.  There was a Move tech demo that showed something like this, but apparently they haven't implemented it into LBP2 yet.  I hope they explore this direction!

so will there be move support for LBP1?

Oh yeah, 3D sculpting with dual Move wielding would be fucking awesome!

And I'm definitely more tempted to create something more ambitious as well, since the tools will definitely be easier to work with.

Niceeee
