great news for sony. to all the people who see the positives just disregard all those who want to be negative; it seems all they want to do i just hate.

on another note glad to see all 3 companies posting healthly numbers, it's not like either of these 3 companies are leaving the business no time soon.

its good news as it was less than expected. of course losing 400million is bad, but this news is gr8 in the bigger picture. sony will profit next year

Losing money = bad :)

So delivering better results than expected in the progress of rebounding from a serious economic crisis is bad? If you don't see good in that, then I'm glad you're not runnnig my business.

After what Sony's been through, you can't just clap your hands and expect a profit next year. Things take time in the real world you see.

OT: I'm really glad that Sony is looking to turn the trend and show some business muscles. In my opinion, they've really deserved this "second chance" in the console business!

So not meaning to piss on the fire but how is a $440m loss good?

They had to let go 16000 staff which obviously will save you a lot of cash too.

Maybe by the end of this year they might start making some money on the PS3, but if those numbers are true then they currently are not.

It's good that it's not a 732 million dollar loss of course. Your losing less.

It's like if you've been stabbed and your bleeding hard... then your not bleeding so hard. Bleeding at all is bad... but bleeding less is good.

It's all persepective.

But the fact is they still lost a vast amount of money.

753 million isn't really that vast for a company like Sony. Really it's a lot better then I would of thought considering that nearly all of their divisions went to the crapper together.
